Learn what an inductor is and how it works in this basic electronics tutorial course. First, we discuss the concept of an inductor and explain the physics behind how the magnetic field inside of the inductor coil can store energy.
We then discuss how the voltage across an inductor is proportional to how fast the current through the inductor changes. We close by discussing how the magnetic field is concentrated inside of the inductor.
In this electronics course, we cover how an inductor works and how to use inductors in circuits. We explain how capacitors and inductors are closely related, and how to use inductors in electric circuits..

I have never ever passed maths In school and could not even solve simple equations. It was a disaster. 2006. I finished school and could not get into college due to the absence of maths. The supplementary exams I took was a failure too and I gave up. Until I came across a DVD series titled Fractions through Algerbra in 2014. Thats when my eyes opened and it all began to make sense. Today I am in my 2nd year of Electrical Engineering and Salute the MathTutor for opening up my mind. Much Respect. Keep up the Good Jason.

Things don't always make sense immediately. Perhaps it just takes longer for some people but I think it depends on the quality of the teaching. Concepts weren't always clear to me when I was a student but became clearer later. Good luck with your work.

Voltage difference across a straight wire and an inductor (coiled wire) is 0 with stable current. Voltage difference across an inductor momentarily lags behind current change. Current fluctuation produces inductor oscillation, and inductor oscillation emits electromagnetic pulses. So much to learn... hope this helps some folks, thanks for the lesson.

thank you may God continue to bless you, you have opened my mind when you talked about how capacitors and inductors can be used interchangeably in circuits depending on the goal of the circuit, say if i want handle the energy in the circuit like a microwave circuit that requires electrical energy to handled so that it can be converted into heat energy to warm food stuffs,a capacitor or an inductor can be employed to perform that function, and also in transmission of radio waves ,sound energy needs to be handled in form of a magnetic field or electric field in order for it to be transmitted ,thanks for understanding what you were taught

Thank you for the video. I have a question which is about when you say "increase the current", do you mean increase how fast the current change or you mean increase the amplitude of the current? If you say "di/dt" is how fast the current changes, then why it is also related to the amplitude of the current? Got a little confused. Thanks!

For Visual learners, it wiil be important to see a reality example of an inductor and 1 or 2 examples of where it is being used, asumption that those that watch your program knows what it is. Work from Reality to Symbols to Explanations. Your explanations are very good and I will definately subscribe as a early hobbiest.
