It is very easy to take a non-representative sample which can cost you a lot of money and time. We show you how to do it the right way so that you can trust the assays you pay so much money for.

HEY KIETH, I HAVE TO THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART, I MADE A DISCOVERY ON A FRIEND'S PROPERTY THAT HAS COMPLETELY CHANGED HIS LIFE FOREVER, AND IT IS BECAUSE OF WHAT I LEARNED FROM YOU. IT'S A BIGGIE, AND YOU WILL HEAR ABOUT IT. CAN'T SAY MORE YET, BUT...I'D LOVE TO FLY YOU OUT AND HAVE YOU LOOK IT OVER WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT, PERHAPS YOU COULD DO A VID TITLED: "WHAT MY STUDENTS HAVE DONE WITH THIS KNOWLEDGE", THIS IS A SUCCESS STORY. IT NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME HOW WELL HUMANS CAN TEACH EACH OTHER AND WORK FROM EACH OTHER'S KNOWLEDGE, THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN'T DO.

Interesting videos. 9:15 I knew a fellow who had owned a rock shop in Tombstone. At Courtland, Az. he just tired a rope around the base of a large bush and went down a shaft to collect wulfenite crystals. I dug a sample out of a hill in Cochise county. A fellow in Quartzsite brushed some acid on it and said it contained lead, copper, silver and with that combination probably a little gold. When I went back some time later the State of Arizona had a Land restoration/preservation type sign not allowing admittance. No one has mined it still.
@hardrockuniversity7283
@hardrockuniversity7283 2 жыл бұрын
As long as it is unclaimed and on ground open to mineral exploration, the sign probably has no force.

We are still trying to find a project that gets past the initial survey and rejection phase of the process so we can continues the series through later phases. It is also damned hot down here in Arizona right now and not conducive to filming field work. I live close by (Pantano AZ) and venture forth as often as possible to the santa ritas to try my simple hand at prospecting. Am not sure what I may have found other than a lot of leaverite and lots of adventure! It has been damn well worth every up hill step though. I just had enough time to view lessons 1-3 WOW how fantastic. Your approach to education is top shelf. I will be a studious apprentice. I can only hope to possibly meet you some day and spend time in the field with you. I have a deuce and half, strong back and open mind also a great desire to learn the correct way to go about hard rock mining. Could you please comment back to me as to whether or not that same information about placer deposits can be applied to silver or platinum as well. I own 160 acres of land and Ministry Mining maps and the local university say that silver is quite prevalent in my area and silver mining was done years ago only 2 to 3 miles south of my property.
@hardrockuniversity7283
@hardrockuniversity7283 4 жыл бұрын
Platinum acts very much like gold in placer deposition. They are both unreactive chemically and very dense. Platinum is, in fact, from 'plata' (silver in spanish). In South America years ago the gold prospectors came across a mineral that looked like silver, but would not melt in any furnace they could build. They named it 'platina' for little silver and considered it a nuisance. Silver OTOH is rarely found as native metal, but the minerals of silver are usually dense and will get concentrated in the black sands with the other heavy minerals. You may need to assay your black sands to identify it and the concentration though. Good luck! Keith

@keithroy7884
@keithroy7884 5 жыл бұрын
I've done some research, and I'd have to disagree with the statement of replacing gold. Pyrite is a semiconductor, and can be varied in conductivity by doping with other minerals, as is done with silicon, gallium, etc. Much research has been done in the area of photovoltaics, since pyrite absorbs light efficiently. But some researchers have ended studies, stating that their efforts failed. Pyrite is also brittle, so use as contacts in switches is unlikely, at best. There are still possibilities in semiconductor or pv applications, as new methods and doping materials are being regularly discovered. My references were American Scientist, UC Berkeley, Chemistry World, Minerals.net, etc. Perhaps a recent breakthrough has occurred that is not as yet widely known?

@hardrockuniversity7283
@hardrockuniversity7283 7 жыл бұрын
There are many ways to recover the precious metal. What is the 'best' way depends on many factors. The SIMPLEST method would be crushing followed by a gravity separation. In order to focus in on the most profitable method you would need to know the ore grade, the size you need to crush and pulverize the ore to in order to get good liberation of the precious metals from the worthless rock, the particle size of the gold, and how well you can recover the values with a gravity separation.. If a gravity separation is not optimal, there are a number of leaching solutions that may do the job. Do you know what the ore grade is? Keith
@binarytradingspecialists2758
@binarytradingspecialists2758 7 жыл бұрын
Hard Rock University thanks again Keith.....no I dont know the grade but im waiting 100 kilos of sample to test....I know I will need at least 3 machines..1)jaw crasher 2) pulverizer 3) a shaker gravity table.....I would like to stop e waste refining cauze of the chemicals and ill move to ore recovery.the dificult thing is to find those machines here in greece....ill build the impact mill..but I have to buy from the Us the shaker table.....and for start have to be cheap

@hardrockuniversity7283
@hardrockuniversity7283 7 жыл бұрын
The words 'sinking' and 'portal' don't go together. You would 'collar' a shaft which would then be sunk or 'establish' a portal for an adit that would then be 'developed' or 'advanced'. In either case you would generally be most interested in ground support as the rock near surface is weathered and weaker than the deeper rock. Here is a link to a book that is very thorough on ground support. I know it is also available in a PDF somewhere (a copy was sent to me). Seeing the mountains that I love, from a different perspective, is a refreshing experience. Sorry, but I can't shut up. One more point. It's good to see that you're not alone out there. It sets a good example for younger, inexperienced prospectors. Some damn fools rappel down a 90' shaft alone, and without a safety man up top to deal with that troublesome man who pops up when you least expect him... Mr. Murphy.

+sizlax I actually trained AT my house. I Hung a rope in a big cottonwood and practiced prussiking up and then re-setting and rappelling down, then re-setting and prussiking back up- all without ever standing on anything. The problem with going down a mine shaft on a rope, is you must be able to climb back up with only the rope.. The most dangerous moment during the filming was when the cameraman, who has not been trained in climbing, moved the catch bucket and knocked down a number of rocks large enough to do injury. Luckily for me, I am also experienced in THAT, so I looked UP and dodged when and in the direction needed. Covering up and hoping is not nearly as effective. Keith

I was close was I not? I have always been interested in Ruby. My main lizard of interest is the banded gecko.

I talked to a local that says the tailings lake at Ruby has some seriously aggressive bass. Not safe to eat- heavy metals- but fun to catch. I'd like to try it out sometime. Keith

This is more about getting a representative large sample. A lot of rock may not be very representative.

+Anders Good Evening Sir, I am very pleased to hear from you. Joakim is a very pleasant fellow and I enjoy his company. It is fun showing someone who enjoys himself new things, and a good excuse to have some fun. I have been taking pictures and some video and he will be bringing them back with him or sending them electronically sometime in the future. He has now fired an AR 10 and an M1A (both 7.62 NATO). He helped me sight in the M1 with some new match grade ammo my step son Dillon loaded for me. It did very well- 2.5 cm at 100 meters group with 8 power scope. I am also teaching him some local food recipes. We like to eat well at my house. With pleasure, Keith Bowen
