I start my day, every day, with a quick video guitar lesson (while visiting a certain room in the house) and this is a lesson I find myself coming back to all the time. Something so calming and easy about everything. I love the simple graphics in the corner. Excellent teaching. Not too fast.. not too slow...

Thanks for making this accessible Dave. There's no way that most of us could work this out without your lesson. You've captured the beauty, mystery and mood of this enigmatic song so well. This has to be one of the very best guitar tutorials on KZfaq. Very many thanks to you.

Thanks Dave. What a great lesson. You definitely answered some of my questions I've had with this over the years. And the version with the Mick Ronson solo is so epic.

By the way, one of the CD issues for Tumbleweed Connection has a demo version of this song with Mick Robson on guitar. Really cool, worth checking out.

First heard this tutorial today, Dave. Fantastic choice of material......I've always loved Elton's guitar players....Caleb Quaye and Davey Johnstone.....but you seem to have nailed so many of the nuances and chord voicings. Kudos to your great ear for the music and instrument. Finally, Happy New Year to you, and similarly, send our regards to Emily. Stay safe and well.

Well done! Just one minor detail, the lyric at the end of the chorus is not 'evidence', but "Another glimpse of the madman across the water..."

I knew that but my brain automatically sings the other. Don't know why.
