Hi Katie! I'm a primary School teacher in centrale Italy. I loved your videos about your lesson planning and prep your formal observation. In Italy a teacher is formally observed only during his/her first year teaching. The principal and your mentor teacher come to observe you teaching. They are formal and scheduled observations. Italiano school system is completely differenti from the American One, but I love watching your videos anyway. I practice my English and learn rigorous teaching and planning. Thank you very much! Have a nice weekend! Hugs Lucia

Okay this vlog was so interesting! Thanks for filming the whole process and sharing it with us! Thoroughly enjoyed it. I also love rehearsing something with my husband if I'm nervous about it. Sounds like it paid off for you, you go girl!! Way to go and get that highly effective!

As an untenured teacher in NY, I had 4 observations (and a walk-through) for 4 years. Last year, 2 of mine were announced and 2 were not. Now that I am tenured, we get to pick the class and everything. We meet beforehand and then after to go over it. Congrats on all highly effectives! I still have mine coming up in the next few weeks.

Congrats on your excellent observation! I teach in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I have been teaching for about 20 years and 15 has been in the same school. We don't have to have formal observations (always scheduled) except when we are term or in the first year of a permanent contract. So formal observations I don't have anymore but admin pop in throughout the year for many different things and get a sense of how things are going. We also have class profile meetings at least twice each year where we chat about the strengths and stretches of the students and goals we have for ourselves and the students. Our personal goal setting is done at the beginning of the year. We have to decide on an area for growth, how we will work towards that, and the impact we are hoping to see on students. We evaluate our progress near the end of the year. Always interesting to see how things are done in other places. Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations 🎉so happy its behind you now. When I worked as a school secretary many moons ago, I remember how nervous our new teachers were prior to classroom observations. I would go out of my way to show them some extra love with goodies or making extra copies for them last minute. I could feel their anxiousness. What a great and valuable video series for new inspiring teachers! Now enjoy the last stretch of your school year. Great job again. ❤

🎉 that's awesome! I'm happy that it went well.🎉 We have two formal observations per year. In the first one it was scheduled, but in the second it was not scheduled per se but we knew that it would be happening sometime within the week and a half. We don't have to do a formal lesson plan for it because our district/company has us use a scripted curriculum and we just annotate with the turn and talks or details about management etc. It went well for me. I like having a great boss because I don't feel nervous about observations. Even if I do something that isn't as effective, I know it will be talked about in a way that will grow me as a teacher and help the students.

Congratulations! At my school, we have two scheduled formal observations throughout the year. They are much more relaxed than yours though! We don’t submit lesson plans and we don’t submit reflection forms (though I’ve tried to still do these things independently!).
