The easiest way to not fail just like Russia did is to improve logistics. If you look closely, you'll see a logistical failure behind many of Russia's failures in this war. We must also draw lessons from how the Ukranian resistance and gain more advanced drone technology, MANPADS, and portable anti tank systems. These willl help fill many gaps in our defences.

Bro it's not the logistics where they failed it is the planning. They thought and underestimated the Ukrainians and thought that Kyiv to fall in couple of days.

No. Logistics is NOT the primary reason. The lesson here is that tanks are not good at defending themselves ,at least not on their own . They have to be accompanied by motorized infantry to take out soldiers wielding shoulder fired ATGMs. And tanks have to be equipped with active protection systems . Hard kill ones.

In Logistics, the last mile delivery of arms, munitions, clothing, equipment and food is always a problem. It is for this reason that all weather roads have to be built. In the open country, the ancient armies used to forage and pillage the local villages for food and clothing. Today, the tanks are slow rumbling behemoths that can become immobilized due to difficult terrain. Reaching them with fuel and ammunition is all the more difficult. Russia is drawn into a war of attrition. They cannot get out fast. More soldiers are facing the freezing interiors of a tank that has no fuel to move. Mr Putin may look at the nuke options to bring Ukraine to surrender but the danger of contamination will only make the entire country a wasteland unfit for human habitation for hundreds of years. It is a lose all situation!

We may have Russian tanks but there are two factors which are different on our Western border. Firstly, the terrain is completely different,it is very difficult for tanks to get bogged down and impossible for anti tank teams to close in to own tanks bcos our terrain is plane doesn't have jungles there is no cover to close in to tanks. Secondly, tactics: we do not use Russian type of tactics. Our Machanised column is always provided Infantry protection,once ground is over run by Machanised columns it is taken over by infantry and held. And lastly, there is no tank in the world which can't be destroyed by anti tank weapons. In 1965 war against Pakistan, India had second world war type tanks and Pak had Patton tanks,the latest tanks on US origin. In Khemkaran Sector, India diestroyed most of Pak tanks. There was grave yard of Patton tanks. One of the village was named subsequently Patton Village. Americans were astonished to see how indian obsolete thanks could destroy their latest tanks. An expert team was sent by America to study the reason behind defeat of their tanks. Therefore,it is always man behind the weapon which matters. Same thing happened in Shakar garh Sector, Pakistan's number of armd regiments lost all their tanks. Just read India Pak 1965 war written by Capt Amrinder and Gen Shergill.

the russian army tanks have a smaller size profile to dodge unguided missiles of soviet times, and they also have less crew due to use of auto loader. These tanks have not separated the ammunition and crew compartment, that's why when an atgm hits it, it often ignites the ammo and explosion is more deadlier for tank.

Era of tanks is over. This is an era for drones, stingers and loitering munitions. The economics and risks are staggered against tanks. I don't remember the real number but rough estimate is that you can have approximately 300 drones/loitering munitions for a cost a single tank. If say 100 drones/loitering munitions are fired at a single tank, that tank will simply be overwhelmed and will get distroyed.

Both these strategies have been used by Bharatiya Army way back in 1965 If we check the history of 1965 war with Pakistan, we would find that Pakistani army was equipped with advance Patton tanks from the USA. We successfully countered them with anti tank weapons that was procured from Soviet Union back then on emergency purchase. Plus we flooded the fields artificially to bog down the heavy Patton tanks to make them easy targets. Something that Ukrainian army is doing now, perhaps they must have closely studied the 1965 war strategies

Russian army is not able to advance quickly because they are not using heavy Arteliry which was their doctrine of war also they are not bypassing the cities they are concentrated to destroy the cities If Russia from beginning used heavy Arteliry shelling on the Ukraine forces and bunkers then there would be more impact on war Also Russia doesn't seems to finish the war very soon

Say we are not going to attack any other country, so our 1st primary objective should be in relation to counter the enemy attack, for which, air targets requires SAMs(low to high range precised ones), air dominant fighter aircrafts and attack& surveillance drones, Ballistic missile protection system(both exo and endo atmospheric), drone protection system, anti armour missiles, costal security in form of excellent radars and anti ship and submarine missiles and torpedos. And capabilities to launch nuclear and conventional warheads from sea in form of Nuclear attack and ballistic submarines i e.SSNs and SSBNs...our focus in recent times has shifted from imports to indegenization, and hope that in future this philosophy continues.

Should think of converting in the battery mode one the fuel runs out...instead of getting the fleet stuck in the midst of war ar provisions back up. The battery should be such that...be keep charging based on its movement of its belts.

Blaming it on equipments is like " Nacha na jaane aangaan theadha"😃😄 This Russian fiasco looks like bungling from top to bottom rung, right from the political leadership which believed ukraine would just fold up without much of a fight, , top military leadership with its strategies, timing, etc, co-ordination of various forces, lack of planning in logistics right down to ordinary soldiers who were mostly conscripts who were forced to fight with lack of motivation, training, and direction.

It's not the tank that is dangerous but everything that goes with it.fuel,ammunition, infantry, support, information etc etc. T72 is fine against Ukraine hiw ever everything else was miscalculated. Now mariopol is taken because of proper planning and execution. They should have done that from the start

We should make a computer simulated excercise where mainly (say) $ 1 billion worth of man portable antiaircraft missiles ..and $ 1 billion worth of Man portable Antitank missile along with $ 2 billion worth of drones is deployed by one side ...and..on the opposit side same $ 1 billion worth each of Tanks,, heavy artilary fighters, and bombers etc are used. This simulated war will prove that the present concept of using HEAVY ASSET will face defeat , loss of life and asset. In the face of low cost small smart weapons

Javelins and drones are making tanks obselete as we can see. Either install High tech jammer which can jam incoming projectiles or simply just convert the existing tank into unmanned combat vehicle. It is what it is,it's the future. As one of the leading nation militarily we have to stay updated,stay a step ahead of others. 👍

Tanks are a easy targets in battlefield. Slow moving …big size …makes it most vulnerable infront of anti tank weapons.

That's a much debated issue. War is not only a military affair, it's also political. Russia would have had massive political ramifications if air dominance was chosen.

@@DeepNaskar11 Tejas project design was already done back in 2004. Way back before China's J 17 5th Gen gets model design. If there is a choice between HAL and private weapon industry, it's better to choose latter as HAL is thinking of the past when US and CHina is developing 6th Gen.. When do you think AMCA will get inducted to IAF? 2030 at the earliest through HAL.
