The renovation of our 4-room HDB resale is progressing well! In this video, we cover our initial electrical works and also tiling works. We overlayed our tiles in our bathrooms, living room, and kitchen. We've been learning a lot about tiling works from speaking with contractors on site. Hi, do you mind to share what is the embedded shower U channel for? Do you plan to install the shower screen or panel onto the U channel? Where do you get the U channel from? thanks.

Hi! We installed a fixed panel onto the channel. The contractors installed the U channel I'm not too sure where they got it from

Hello, so far how was the overlaying of toilet tiles? especially for the walls. I am planning to do the same, anything to watch out for?

I think the overlaying went fine but I haven't stayed in the home for long so I can't really say how it will last. You can check the if your old tiles are still good quality (not hollow) before overlaying. Our contractor also added a bonding agent to the tiles (SKK Toughmol) so it sticks better especially for walls!

Hi, Just to check, you are doing just the tiles overlay in the toilet, but still can enough depth to embed the shower U channel?

Yea they were able to embed the shower U channel for us.

Did you have to pay more for the mitred edge as compared to the other options (e.g. Rounded pvc)?

Nope, our ID did not charge us extra!

@@LivingwithSun That's great! Mine asked for 2k extra, so I gave up and am prepared to deal with pvc edges. Sigh.

Wow $2K is crazy 😱! I guess PVC is also safer because it's rounded. Got pros and cons 🤷

@@LivingwithSun thanks for the quick reply! Based on your experience would you recommend this size of tile for flooring considering the warping/ lippage?

I think it depends on your tiler, tiles, and how much lippage you accept. If you look at our tiling video, our wooden tiles are slightly warped at the ends due to the length. But I think if you have a good tiler and don't offset the tiles too much in the pattern you should be good.
