It's Derek's turn now- the Allman legacy will go on a lifetime

Derek is a national treasure. He’s carried the legacy of his famous uncle and his band mates, in addition to creating his own wonderful style we have the privilege of hearing now.

Some of the intentionally bizarre melodies Derek is playing that have the most abstract relationships to the actual groove, are just insanely cool. ESPECIALLY when he then roars in at the end to show he can hit EXACTLY the notes your ear wants, too. The man is absolutely a Top-10 rock guitarist in music history. Stunningly original.

I can't travel much anymore (old) and I can't afford tickets anyway. Thanks KZfaq. And thanks Derek and Susan for keeping the ABB legacy alive.

That guy turned out to be one of the most soulful players ever to walk the planet!

No matter who he plays with; Clapton, Bonamassa, ABB, he just stands out without even trying to be the "guitar hero". Superb player.

I cannot overstate the brilliance of the drummers in the early stages of this, bringing it up and back down as Derek does. It's phenomenal. And Derek does OK too :D

Mr Trucks is self actualized. What a lucky man to be so humble yet so great and to have a wife and counterpart that is a legit equal.

Once in a while someone will appear on the planet like this and all we should do is listen and be grateful he made it to earth while we are here.

You DO realize that all those stage lights flashing at the end of the performance were powered by the energy coming from Susan and Derek.

There are very few people who ever attain that level of freedom on an instrument

It's amazing to me how the continuation of the spirit of Allman Brothers music lives on and continues through the children Spawned from this band. Having heard several of the kids Play, It's almost like Duane and Gregg still live through them while adding their own touches that are phenomenal.

While Derrick is a 1 of 1 generational talent, I can get over how tight those 2 drummers and the rest of the band are. All of those players and nobody gets stepped on Just incredible.

Made all three shows last week in Boston, and would to say thanks to all the band members who showed up and played every show like it was there last. Watching the pride in Susan's parents at the opening show was especially touching. What a rush of emotions all around!

I saw him in Ottawa, when he was 12 years old, with the Dominators, he totally blew me away.

Second time I've been there to see them do Whipping Post at the Orpheum and each time has blown my mind!

Unbelievable!! When Susan came in I got chills and teared up.

Breathtaking....I saw that song performed in NY when first released and it has grown into beyond with T & T and the group. Great stuff

i first saw him play Whiping post when he was 18 or so. Sounds pretty much the same. Genius.

Derek trucks is just a perfect example of hard work and determination and of course God Given talent. I’m so glad that I have found you and your work. So refreshing to hear a guitar player who plays what you need to hear vs a guitarist who plays what they think you want to hear.

My generation’s guitar heroes would have one or two of these nights on a tour, even in their peak years. Trucks and a handful of today’s icons, unleash these torrents of fury every night on tour. The vocabulary, the lyricism, the articulation and spontaneity here are really quite extraordinary.

I remember watching when he was 14, then found he was buddy Trucks kin, then playing in the Allman Brothers band. One of the best .

It's been a pleasure to watch Derek grow as a musician...and a person. I don't know how old he was but I first saw him(several times) playing with the ABB 90-92 in Atlanta.

I had the unique pleasure of seeing Derek sit in for Dickey Betts when the Allman Brothers played Peakin At The Beacon in NYC in March of 2000. He was smoking hot even then 🔥

This song is second in Rock music only to In Memory of Elizabeth Reed. Thanks to Dicky Betts and Duane Allman and Greg Allman for such powerful songs.

Okay first of all thank you! Second of all God bless this man and God bless this band! For those that say a female shouldn't sing this song I know where they're coming from no one can replace that ferocious growl Duane Allman not even any other grown man on the planet! However I really enjoyed this and she was very Soulful and appropriate with it... also in addition to how skillful and tasteful and amazing brother Derek is, we all know the sense of Mastery and especially freedom and never getting lost in the instrument that he possesses... perhaps matched only by the one and only Stevie Ray and my man Eric Johnson... which leads me to my final point, I will always be blessed for my first introduction to Derek Trucks seeing the Derek Trucks Band opened for Eric Johnson in Jacksonville Florida at Humphreys By The Bay right on the waterfront I'm like what the fuck am I seeing and hearing here?!! This is no warm-up band this is a gift from heaven and surely there must be an afterlife
