A few years back, the great Texas fiddler Johnny Gimble had a minor stroke and ended up in the hospital. On the morning after his admission, the attending physician stopped by on his rounds and said, "Mr Gimble, I expect you to make a full recovery, but there will probably be some things you can't remember". Without missing a beat, Johnny said, "well, I hope to hell one of them is the Orange Blossom Special!"

This is the very best recording that I've ever heard. All others sound faster. This is how I imagined it being played. I'm so glad I took the time researching the original composer of this and I'm So Glad That You put this on KZfaq. Thank You so very much!

Paul Warren played fiddle. Never considered one of the greats. Good band fiddler. Byron Berline, Kenny Baker, Howdy Forrester, Chubby Wise, Vassar Clements others much better musicians. But Paul got the job done for many years and was loved by millions.

3 guitar notes at the beginning played in a tempo that sounds like it is going to be kind of slow ---then it takes off like a rocket. Every time I listen to a Flatt and Scruggs (original band) song I am amazed. As a kid growing up in the 60's in SC my parents (who were wonderful, true country folk) used to watch them every Saturday on TV. I always thought they were kind of square. Now I appreciate their talent, innovation and love their music. I loved them on the Beverly Hillbillies too by the way.

First time that I ever heard this song was back in the 1990s, when I was a student at the Army's Engineer Officer Advanced Course, at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. It was on the Rolla, Missouri NPR Station on Saturday nights. (I knew that it was an older song). As I've gotten older, - now closer to 60- I fondly remember this tune.

Doesnt get any cleaner than this Paul Warren version. Fantastic. The group doesnt gunk up this timeless treasure w/hoopala or theatrics, just pure 100% product. No extras. Magical performance. I doubt any of them could even read music. Doesnt matter. Atcs like this are, unfortunately, gone forever. The pureest form of bluegrass, strings only and no electrified instruments.
