George is the one who wrote the solo. And George Martin chose the single version solo. I’d say them doing the album version solo shows that’s what they liked.

The album solo sounds like what a hair band would do. The single version is what the Beatles usually do with their solos, fit the song.
@gregchristopfel81065 жыл бұрын
@@howie9751 and that's why the album version is by far the best. it is dirty, gritty and in high contrast to he rest of the song. Brings more raw emotion and yet fits the song perfectly. The single version was to neuter it and make it more radio friendly. Lamest thing the Beatles ever did.
@howie97515 жыл бұрын
@@gregchristopfel8106 I have to disagree. The guitar solo on the album version sounds like it comes from another song.
@gregchristopfel81065 жыл бұрын
@@howie9751 I certainly wouldn't go that far and we will have to agree to disagree. The single version sounds rather bland to me, but the album version rocks it a bit, and after all they were a rock band. I do appreciate your perspective and I certainly don't hate the other versions, but that album version has excited me since i was a little 9 year old in 1970 listening to it. It soars and is as melodic as anything they ever did!
@gregchristopfel81065 жыл бұрын
@@howie9751 it is also interesting to note that there are not very many Beatle songs with multiple official versions like this, so apparently they couldn't decide either - hence they made everyone happy by putting it all out there! Way to go John, Paul, George and Ringo!

I fell in love with "Let it be" when I was 12, as I grew up, I gradually understood why I love this song so much, not because Paul's vocal and rhythm, but because of George's profound and unique guitar solo, he is the reason I started to love the Beatles and learn to play guitar.

The album version has to be my favorite of all of them. Even though it makes me cry. I think it's because of the fact that it makes me think how The Beatles could have stayed together, and could still be touring today. I know they broke up because of tension between the members, but had they either kept going and gotten through the tension, they could still be together today, and the album version of the Let it Be guitar solo makes me think of that, so then I cry.

I've been confused about this solo for years. Pretty sure the version I heard growing up in the 70s was the third (album) version here. But I saw a clip from the film in the late 70s, and I noticed the live studio solo was different (I think it may have been the never-released take 27a, now available to see/hear on KZfaq). Then, when it came out, I got Let it Be Naked, and the solo is different again from the Naked version, and different from all three you play here (most similar to, but clearly different from the Single Version).

The ironic thing is - and if you have headphones, it'll bear this out - if you listen to either the single or album versions, you can hear bits of the other solo coming thru..although it's more obvious on the album version (the single's solo is almost but not quite buried in the mix...and vice versa, although they did manage to bury the album version more.)

Great Job!!! I watched a guitar player in the studio once do 50 takes because of course, he hears everything others don't......they wound up using take 1. It was the only one that had the right feeling. The others had mistakes or were so perfect, they sounded fake and without feeling.......thats why you need someone to say "ENOUGH!!" or musicians will be there for a week trying to get it right in their own mind.
