The skies belong to the birds and it is us humans who get a part of it for celebrating the Makar Sankranti festival when we fly our kites high in the sky. Therefore, we should be extra cautious and fly our kites with cotton threads and not nylon 'manjha' as the latter can cause significant damage to the birds if it comes in contact with one.
In view of this, the Maharashtra Forest Department has created the first Transit Treatment Centre in Nagpur.
If you ever come across an injured bird, pick them up carefully and observe the wound. Keep the bird in a closed container and pick it up using a soft handkerchief.
Apply Iodine Solution to the wound and cover it with a clean piece of cloth. Soon after, take the bird to a specialist wherever available.
Let's fly our kites but also keep in mind the safety of the birds.
