The question of whether or not to pre-wash and/or starch your quilting fabric before you begin cutting is a hotly debated topic in our quilting communities.
In the end, pre-washing and starching are really a matter of personal preference, and there are a number of pros and cons for both! Most quilters, myself included, find that their preferences often change with the type of project they're making, and the kinds of pieces they'll be cutting.
This video covers the pros and cons of choosing to pre-wash ... but DOES NOT include instructions for pre-washing ... so if you're new to pre-washing, be sure to research the HOW further before attempting it.
The video also chats about the three major categories of starches, how to apply them to your fabric, and gives you a side-by-side comparison so that you can see how the product actually affects the textile.
Please note that the purpose of this video is to share my own opinions and experiences. This video was not sponsored by any of the featured products, and we purchased all of the featured products for this video.
