Slight correction Quill. This isn't the first time we have a new form for our leader. We had the Dragon Lord as a form in a previous expansion.

14:30 The second new form, we've had Dragons before from the Dragon Dawn DLC (they're pretty fun). That expansion also has some mixed affinity tomes (mostly Nature/Chaos) 29:00 I tend to _either_ have a Support unit or a Hero specced for Support in every army. Both can feel a little overkill (your army needs killing power) but some Support units are strong enough that it's worth stacking them. And high level heroes can afford to spare a few skills for support while still being killing machines. A lot of the Cultures and some Tomes need a support unit to easily proc their special ability early on (e.g. High culture Supports can Awaken their units). They usually have some other ways of doing it too but Supports help. Order tomes tend to have a lot of good support enchantments and some good support units (and Support units are the earliest to get Faithful, I think? If you're going down that route.) The game is lacking in higher tier Support units though (except for Druids of the Cycle who are really good) which is why in the long run I prefer support heroes. But not every army has a hero in the late game. As for Battle mages, you should have _either_ battle mages _or_ physical ranged as your backline, but not both. Pick tomes that empower whichever route you go down. Trying for both just dilutes your power since you only have so many tomes and most usually empower one or the other. If I'm going battle mages I usually go for 2-3 battle mages, possibly a support, a melee defender hero with some support abilities, and 1-2 strong tough defensive units, but it depends on the tomes. Battle Mages are squishy generally speaking, so going heavy on them is dangerous. Also many tomes that empower battle mages synergize with melee attackers in some way (e.g. mages electrify, melee attackers deal bonus damage against electrified targets, or condemn/zeal for the tome you show here). That said, if you can use combat summons to bolster your front line (quite possible) you can have fewer melee units. As for early-mid-late, only Mystic has tier 1 battle mages I think. And there's only one tome BM that's tier 1 (the skeleton one). So it's hard to go Battle mage too early but it doesn't take too long to get to tier 2 units which a fair few tomes give tier 2 BMs (also tier 1 Battle Mages die in, like, two hits. They are _hilariously_ squishy. even as Mystic I advise just skipping them). Just stack melee units with supports and work the mages in gradually. High is the most awkward here since they have emphasis on physical ranged early but then their tier 3 is a mage... it's one of many reasons I find High a rather tricky culture to use well.

@Your "Tome of the Cleansing Flame" Question. Most hardcore players don't use Battlemages in Multiplayer. Because they are weaker compared to archers. And a part of the Community say they need a little Patch/Update to buff them. I don't play competive Multiplayer. Just a little match against my nephew from time to time. My focus is on Singleplayer and i create my Factions with a Roleplaying heavy Background. And from time to time i love playing with armies focused on Battlemages. Especialy with a Wizard King Ruler. Because they fit them better than archers. And yes, i love that new Tome. 😍 The Spells are nice and very well designed for a Faction of religious Fanatics. Battlemages are definitely in need of a little buff. But if you have a lot of them and the enemy units are standing nice and close together. Than their aoe attacks can do devastating damage. This is also why i would remove the cooldown from Battlemages aoe/secondary abilities to buff them. Or set them to a maximum one turn cooldown. Because this is were they can shine. But i also wouldn't count too much on the opinion of the competive Multiplayers. The biggest Part of AoW4 Community is Singleplayer or playing against friends for fun. And this is fine. Not every game has to be focused on Multiplayer and competition. Most part of the Multiplayer focused (small) Community are also playing just single Unit Doomstacks. Of course they are allowed to play how they like it. But for me this would be boring as fuck.

I think Empower by magic and Ceaseless Cacophany are new traits but they were added in the patch not the dlc wich is why they dont have the Symbol

Jeeesus...over 35 minutes of setting up a starting game...fabulous. I checked out, before I lost the will to live, not to mention it is misinformation.

I think the auto-combat option totally ruined this game. :( I know you can play without it, but the temptation is too stronk.
