Could you do a video on matching up pencils to the type of paper, That would be good. Prisma colour works on this type of paper Polychromos works on this type of paper etc. Same goes for the cheaper type pencils. Any tips for Derwent Inktense pencils.

@@PamelasPassionforPencils I know you test new pencils in secret Garden. I second the ask, giving I ideas on the pencil brand works best in the what paper, eg amazon books what pencils are best to use. Crayola pencils work best on which books?

I only have Prismacolors and I am new to coloring and have just a few books and my favorite so far are JB's books. I want to add a Meine Reise book for sure!

It’s so true - the combination of pencils and paper make such a difference. I was struggling with one of Kirby’s books because the pencils were just not right - but when I finally found them, bingo - all of a sudden the book just opened up! :)

Yes!! It’s all about the perfect match. I just want everyone to pull out those books and pencils they thought they didn’t like. Hoping this videos get most to pull out some of the pencils they’ve had sitting around because they thought they didn’t enjoy them. ♥️

People please, you do not need to purchase two books or ruin a two sided coloring page, just apply "gloss glazing liquid" from Golden. Then u can use alcohol markers, watercolor pens, acrylic paint pens etc and it protects each page. just brush a light coat, for a super quick dry use a hair dryer for a couple of secs and u can instantly start coloring. It dries clear, smooth and u no longer have to copy pages. Use the beautiful books u bought, the product protects each side and is versatile of what you want to color with....

Does the satin glazing liquid work in the same one with the gloss one? Because in Canada it's harder and more expensive to get the gloss glaze :( or is there any alternatives of it?

@mooncaketr satin glaze for me wasnt a good choice because it made the paper horribly ruff feeling. I assumed it would be like satin paint but nope. If you dont want the glossy one, you can use my favorite choice which is Mont Marte clear texture gesso. It has the finest grit that still kinda feels soft to touch and it doesnt ruin my tips of alcohol markers. The regular ones, i have used a couple of times my brush tip alcohol markers on it as well and it didnt ruin the tips, but im also not heavy handed as some coloring individuals are, lol. Hope that helps.

Spot on! I’d recommend the same ones to a new coloring friend. I think I’d let them know about Creative Haven too. I just love Teresa Goodridge’s books & think they’re way less intimidating than some since they’re so inexpensive :) thanks for the great video Pamela! :)

I was struggling with Rita Berman Meine Reise Europa using my Prismacolor pencils. I tried using KRYLON Workable Fixative and found it made a difference. I put 3 coats on.

As a beginner, this is a lot of information with unfamiliar resources. Could you maybe create a chart with different pencils and different books and show which pencils work in the books?

I don't own any Hanna Karlzon books, however I have a Maria Trolle book, and I've used wet media and whooo-ie does it work wonderfully on that paper!! And it didn't go through onto the other side! So despite both Hanna and Maria's being published by Gibb's Smith, perhaps Maria's paper does have a bit of a difference? Just a hunch and I wish I had one of Hanna's books to fully confirm. Amazing paper either way 😊. Love this video idea and very helpful even for non-beginners! Much love as always 💞

Also! A fun idea for the black background's in Maria's books, I love using the FolkArt? (I forget the brand) Glitterrific and Extreme Glitter paints/anything similar that's iridescent shimmery yumminess 😊

I noticed that the link to Johanna Basford's World of Flowers was to Amazon. Is there a place where I could buy it with the original paper the book was published in instead of having Amazon paper in it? Thank you, Pamela. If I don't go back to the same page I had been colouring in, I write down on a little paper tab the colour numbers and bookmark it on that said page. So I don't forget

I’m sure I did. I just really don’t remember which flower was done using Castle Arts. It was so long ago when I tested them that I honestly don’t remember how I liked them. If I loved them I’m sure I’d be pulling them out a lot more. They’re fabulous on the Amazon printed books!

That was also done with Prismacolors....the flowers and the shoes were all Prismacolors. The envelope was Polychromos. Have a great evening.

Great video! Are all of Hannah Karlson books have the same paper? I have Daydreams and am about to start a buddy color in it. I always have some anxiety when I use my Prismacolor set as I get a lot of breakage. I heard you say that you really only like the Prismas in her book. Have you tried Polychromos in her books?

@@PamelasPassionforPencils The word colorist is usually stated towards people who are prejudice againt certain skin tones, most times darker, within a race or ethnic group. I understood in this context you meant a person who colors but I feel like there could be a better word or phrase to describe an artist than "colorist".
