I like to do the same thing, and fill them with: Taco meat with cheese & sour cream. Meatball with pasta sauce and topped with cheese. Sloppy Joe meat topped with cheese. You put a great spin on ordinary foods and make them extraordinary, well done.

I love your Dollar Tree meal videos. My mother, who passed last year, had a similar upbringing to you ...raised by her mom who cleaned houses to keep a roof over their head though though she had 6 siblings and her father didn't pass but just left them to fend for themselves (that's another story on it's own). I'm really envious over the food your Dollar stores carry in the US (I'm Canadian). Our stores carry very little food ... no frozen foods, no dairy and just a few canned foods, condiments, noodles, packaged gravy mixes etc. Not one of the items you used are available in any of our stores (though we do have canned meatballs in gravy) so I'd have to buy the frozen dinners, cheese, biscuits, potstickers etc from a supermarket ( would cost about $20 - $22 here).

Here's a great tip for breads.... Bread tends to dry out as you said, whether you heating in the microwave or oven, try adding a microwave or oven safe cup/pot/pan whatever works for you, and put just a bit of water, like an inch or so of water, then put it in the microwave or oven and it will add a bit of moisture and keep the bread soft. Works for left over pizza too!

A good way to heat up pizza and bread is to put your microwave on the defrost setting and just heat it for a few seconds at a time until it gets just right . I do this with my take out pizza leftovers and the pizza will come out tasting just like fresh take out pizza! 😃

well miss Jan I had leftovers in my frig. beef from stew, mashed potatoes, curly seasoned fries, cheddar cheese and a packet of bourbon barbeque sauce. I also had 8 Pillsbury biscuits. I halved the biscuits and formed 8 halves onto cupcake pans, stacked the leftovers topped with cheddar. Topping that with the 8 halves of bisquit dough. They are in the oven now. I'll be back with the taste test and a photo if I can attach to this site. That's if they are good.

My dad used to eat one of those banquet two-sided dinners that are usually $0.99 for his dinner about a year before he passed away. That was his dinner! And it's a lot of people's dinner because that's all they can afford although my father was wealthy. The last meal he ate before he passed away which was a couple of months in between was my meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy and home cooked carrots. He didn't eat it all but it was the last proper meal he had and that felt good for me to be able to make that I always made him special meals because my mother didn't cook anymore. He loved my American chop suey and meatloaf and chicken chow mein stuffed pork chops where all his favorites along with others. He has been gone five and a half years and I miss him so much he was my best friend and my everything and I never thought my dad was going to die. I also always thought my mother would go first she had been ill with other things and was the abuser of all of us. But she is still kicking at 85. I cooked for her for a year on my food stamps with no help from her wealthy self when she broke her hip it was about 18 months actually every week I made two different kinds of meals or soups and sent them to her and she would Keith wanted to eat and freeze the others so I took care of her as well. But I spent my food stamps to feed both of us and provide me with green iced tea which is the only thing I can drink with gastroparesis and she never offered a dime for the food. I do it again because that's what my heart tells me to do for anybody. :-)

What a giving heart you have! I lost my Dad 19 yrs ago... I still miss him. That heartache will never go away until I see him in Heaven. So sorry for your loss and for not being appreciated that's the most hurtful feeling. I'm so sorry.

@@lisawilson8500 thank you so much for your reply. No the pain will never go away but I am also disabled and can't get out of the house right now because I haven't had a caregiver for over a month. I can't cook without help I ordered a delivery meal tonight for myself and it made me feel icky! I will always have happy memories of me and my dad and not knowing at a young age that my mother was jealous of he and I because he showed me love and emotion and didn't show it the same to her but I was his little girl and she was his wife there is a big difference. He told me one day and I'm going to cry but he told me he pointed his finger out beside him in the air and he said always remember there was no child on this Planet more wanted than you were. And I believe him for him that he finally had his little princess and that is how he treated me. My mother however is about to put me out on the street thank God I don't live with her but she is helping pay the bulk of the rent because my disability from SSDI is quite small she said September is it the last month she will pay and whether I have a place to go or not tough shit get out as what she says. There is no subsidized or handicapped housing in the state of Maine or Tennessee or West Virginia or pretty much anywhere. My birthday is Wednesday and my mother said today to me well I don't love you. Anyway I think we each lost one of the most important people in our lives. He was the most important person for me because I never had children. I was married several times but I never was able to have children. So when my mother passes away I am alone I have no other living family. But I still make spaghetti and meatballs every Wednesday and get the upstairs guy now to deliver the meals to the elderly and or sick people in this apartment complex and I put enjoy love Elizabeth not one person has ever said hello or thank you but that's okay because it makes me happier to give then anything else I can do. :-) have a great day! XOXO

@elizabethshaw734
@elizabethshaw734 6 жыл бұрын
@@addicted367 this was a couple of years ago with the spaghetti and the meatloaf dinner no it was a year ago. Because I also sent meals to people who had cancer or couldn't cook in my mobile home park before I moved to this apartment. Of course I was sure I delivered it myself and in some places where I was comfortable enough I got out a plate and the glass and a spoon and a knife and a fork. I put their meal on the plate for them got them something to drink and they sat down and began to eat. Everybody I have made food for has received their food and enjoyed it. I don't know why you would try to diss this. I would do it where I live now but nobody speaks to each other. In the mobile home park nobody knew they were getting vegan meatballs! :-) they love them and what's wrong with a little extra healthy something in your day? I would ask people are you allergic to Soy are you allergic to beans and go from there. My Meatloaf was also well-loved and it was as I said my dad's final meal. Have a nice day.

Jan, I made two variations of your shared recipe (cheesy biscuit cups) today (4/26/2017) I used the left over mac & cheese, got a small packet of velevta jalapeno cheese sauce & put just a smidge on top of the mac & cheese & topped it with cooked browned seasoned turkey burger & then shredded pepper jack cheese. The next variation I used left over crock pot chicken breast (w/ mushroom herb sauce) and left over mashed potatoes, topped it with white cheddar & gouda cheese. Turned out delish!! Perfect size for a meal or as a snack! Thanks for the great idea!

How neat, Jan! I am busy keeping ready to get up and go to watch my grandson when my daughter and son-in-law say the next baby is on the way. Any day now! My bags are packed in the car and also my clothes hung there ready too. Looking forward to quick meals like this one to get busy while my grandson and I wait for the new baby to arrive!

Looks good, a couple of TV dinners and the biscuits would feed 4. or 5 people What a great idea for stretching a budget at the end of the month, I'm up for trying this, you run out of ideas after awhile, so glad I found you. :-)

Thank you for this technique. You can do so much with this idea it is wonderful. I am really enjoying your creativity, and you do it on pennies and with dollar tree products! Wow. You go, girl. (Loved the Marilyn Monroe T-shirt).👍😍😀

First time watching your recipes both from DT and those are not. I like that you are not perfect and we see mistakes, forgotten ingredients. If I wanted perfection I guess I would watch food network. Thank you and God Bless.

How clever! Like tiny little Shepherds Pies. Thanks for your frugal tips. After retiring earlier this year I'm horrified at how much I spend cooking at home now that I'm not eating out twice a day while working in the city.

Miss Jan us so creative and I have made many of your meals which saved me a lot of time effort and money because I have hands that don't work properly. I wonder if I could use a larger muffin cup they are silicone and sit on a baking tray. maybe I could use all of the biscuits? they're actually for cupcakes and muffins because they have a rippled edge go all the way around but I have used other Foods in them it's just the day it's a jumbo they're bigger than a regular muffin tin. I would like to do these with what I have at home which is 2/8 packs of fluffy biscuits like Grands but they don't get hot on the outside I love them.
