Yep... I did this too, I'm calling it the "Robo Method" But I left the shading on the blue, I just don't find it really noticeable and it doesn't bother me. Annnd, yeah I chickened out on trying to do the visor, so I just painted over the cel-shading with a bright yellow and it looks fine.

If you end up doing all of them could we see them together in a play day group shot? I've been on the fence about getting these but the ability to get rid of the cell shading might make me cave in.

Yeah I'm tempted to buy a second to do this but knowing Hasbro they'll release an un-cel shaded version with the accessories this one should have come with (no optic blast head? COME ON). And knowing Hasbro they'll probably change something to make the sculpt worse and I'll regret not buying a second one of these to de-shade before aftermarket prices skyrocket.

I'm wondering how many bots commented on this tutorial as it seems you'd get the same comment with some variation in batches. I thought it was great and more power to you for doing what YOU want with your spare time. To anybody dogging on robo, go be miserable somewhere else. God forbid somebody live their own life and not do what everybody else does. Also please everybody go count the number of "it looks like Conan O' Brian" jokes. What percentage acetone polish did you use? I keep 100% in my stash but experimented on a WWE CM Punk fodder figure first. Didn't hurt the softer limb plastic but chewed up the harder plastic in the torso. I's 'fraid now! Probably try the brush thinner method. Edit: I see 98% on the bottle. Close enough to what I have. Went for it, turned out great. Little tiny bit of tan near the edges of the visor where it joints up with the plastic. Too tight so my OCD will have to deal with it! Don't want to take his face off. You've inspired me to start doing a little bit of customizing. Added a silver color to my classic Havok earlier in the week, now this!

Recommend switching from nail polish remover to brush cleaner (Lowe's). While brush cleaner should still be rinsed off, it isn't as scary to work with as acetone (i.e. polish remover). The paint will still come off and there is less risk of damaging the plastic.

Since you use brushes, you can also use brush cleaner to remove paint. Its less aggressive on the plastic. Also have some water in case you panic and want to remove it right away!

💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀 That ended was worth the laugh, but that's what Hasbro gets for not giving us a few blast FX & an yelling alternate angry headsculpt. Well maybe X-Men could start during a Face Off line. Starting with Cyclops vs Mr. Sinister, Wolverine vs Sabretooth, and blue dress suit Professor X vs Magneto all in series 1of the X-MEN versus line all with alternate headsculpts, alternate hands, and power FX and or props.

everyone hating on shaded figures, removing the shades etc. but why buy them then? those are the rarest figures and you can't find them anywhere. and even if you do find them, when you see the prices you wish you didn't find them. so how about you leave these figures to us who like the shading and the rest of you go buy yourselves normal versions?

I'm 25 and I like collecting marvel legends but I always feel awkward buying them. I dislike when people I know or just in general call them toys when all I do is display them. Long story short I guess I just shouldn't care what other people think

It's amazing how the most anticipated part of the Cel Shaded Cyclops release is getting rid of the "cel shading". What a bunch of clowns. The paint on these is so absolutely terrible.

I left the darker blue shading. I recommend using a finer tipped craft q tip.

May be a dumb question but I heard, never tried, pure alcohol is what's best to use to remove paint? From the looks of it you had a way easier time than I've ever had using nail polish remover to remove paint from figures.

I see videos like this, and it is apparent that we either need proper cell shading, or none at all. I pre-ordered all of these, then canceled them after seeing the first review video for Wolverine. If these had no cell shading, I would have been all in, even at the $27.99 price tag. This line has figures I missed the first time around that I still haven't purchased because they look that hideous, and I do not have the patience to remove the cell shading. Nail polish remover is always scary. I did use it to remove the bone paint apps from the retail version of MOTU Revelations Scareglow to give him an animated accurate appearance. Came out good, but I did not use the clear coat. I rubbed baby oil into the plastic to bring back it's natural sheen, or lack of sheen kf a matte figure, as this method has worked for me. Still, always a pain in the @$$ process, and I think Hasbro would have been better off giving us straight up re-releases. If there going to be charing an upfront aftermarket price, at least give us a good figure.
