Joe Biden was in NYC today at the Stonewall Museum dedication and he was a totally different man. He was back to his old energized coherent self. I don't know what was with him last night but after seeing him speak today I'm way less concerned about him. I'm not crazy about Kamala Harris but she is intelligent and well spoken. And I know I would prefer her over any MAGA slimebucket Trump is going to pick for his VP.

Well said Keven. I watched the first hour of the debate, and that was all I could stomach. There was so much mudslinging, lying, exaggeration, ignorance, immaturity and incompetence from both sides, that I couldn't take it any more. I am disgusted and disheartened that we have the same two terrible candidates to choose between, AGAIN! These two are not competent enough to be president of a local lodge, much less to be president of the United States. There is one point you made with which I disagree. Although excessive anger and belligerence can be a result of dementia, in that case, it is usually a stark change in the person's personality and behavior compared to their prior personality and behavior before the onset of dementia. Trump's behavior has always been angry, belligerent, confrontational, and accusatory toward his perceived enemies as far back as I can remember observing him in the media, and that's back to the 1980s when he was in his late 30's to early 40's. Although I do not want to defend Trump in anyway, in the interest of accuracy, I think a diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder rather than dementia is more appropriate for Trump. Here is some information on narcissistic personality disorder from Sheppard Pratt (the largest private, nonprofit provider of mental health, special education, substance use, developmental disability, and social services): "Some of the hallmark signs of narcissistic personality disorder include: An inflated sense of self-importance or self-esteem. A lack of sympathy or empathy for others. Reacting to criticism with violence, rage, or extreme belligerence." BTW, president Lyndon B. Johnson is the most recent U.S. president who did not run for a second elected term, but Johnson is not the only one. The others are James K. Polk, James Buchanan, Rutherford B. Hayes, Calvin Coolidge, and Harry S. Truman.

@@winnmatthews RFK, as an advocate of anti-vaccine misinformation and conspiracy theories, is not much of a third option in my opinion. In any event, the chances of any independent or third party candidate winning a U.S. presidential election are very small. The best showing in the popular vote that an independent candidate has ever had was by Ross Perot in the 1992 election in which he had 18.91% of the popular vote, but zero electoral college votes. Theodore Roosevelt had the best showing of any 3rd Party candidate running as the Progressive Party's candidate in 1912 and garnering 27.31% of the popular vote and 88 electoral votes. He was running as a former president at the time, having previously been in office from 1901 to 1909. George Washington is the only U.S. president elected as an independent to date. Washington opposed the development of political parties, and was elected before the development of the American two party system. Washington feared that partisanship would eventually destroy the country, and famously warned against "the baneful effects of the spirit of party" in his 1796 Farewell Address. RFK is no George Washington, and RFK winning this election is either a pipe dream or a nightmare, depending on one's perspective.

I blame the voters honestly, at least in part. I don't think young people vote, and most people tend to want a leader older than them, so that's how we end up with two people well beyond retirement age. Remember, the majority of Trump voters will vote for him with glee, and if Biden voters don't show up, he'll win. Voting third party is unfortunately only going to take away from what will be either a Biden or Trump "victory."

@@KevenTalks There is unfortunately truth that it takes a lot of money to really even get electable with many other obstacles. Still, we could’ve had Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren. Voters rejected them when they had the chance, they should’ve known what the stakes were: many in politics are stubborn and don’t want to leave when they should, like Ruth Bader Ginsberg or Dianne Feinstein. And most Republican voters generally support Trump, despite the problems there that should be obvious.

This is the mindset every American needs to be in. People nowadays are so caught up in tying their identity to the leader of the party they support. That is not what this election is about--I can recognize Biden is unfit to be president while also acknowledging that a vote against Biden is a vote for a Republican party that has done nothing even close to serving American interests over the last 4 years and that is hellbent on eroding women's rights, fattening the pockets of elites, and leaving a country in shambles for our kids and grandkids. It's not a vote for Biden or trump. It's a vote for democracy and freedom or tyranny and chaos.

Re: Golf After Biden was asked about his fitness for another term, Trump was given the same question but framed a little differently. In his reply he cited cognitive tests he's taken (Biden hasn't) and passed, annual physicals released, and illustrated his fitness by mentioning two club championships in golf he has recently won. (Even the Golf Digest acknowledges he has a 2.5 stroke handicap). Given the context of the question, his discussion of golf was OK, but Biden had an opportunity at rebuttal and that led to the silly exchange you saw in the clip.

Not that it really matters but I question whether trump really won the golf tournaments or not. He has an extensive record of blatantly cheating at golf. He’ll nudge, kick, and even throw the ball closer to the hole. He constantly rigs championships at clubs he owns to win them. For example he played a good round a few days prior to one of his club’s championships and on a whim decided that he’d use that round as his first round in the championship. He’s such a notorious cheater clubs have given him nicknames.

I watched the debate start to finish. I would encourage you to avoid just watching clips, but Biden really is that bad. Biden is not there. There is no way around this. Trump doesn't lie about everything, period. He makes everything sound stupid (and he says a LOT of stupid things), but not everything is a lie. He brought up some very valid points in the debate. It was annoying how both candidates would start almost all of their answers with "everything he just said is a lie" lmao. Biden also doesn't have any moral high ground here, he's just as guilty of lying to make himself look better or make Trump look worse. Things that I liked about the debate: - The questions were good. - The moderation was excellent. - Muting the mic of the person who is not talking was great for the viewer experience, great for Trump, and bad for Biden (Biden does not have Trump constantly talking over him to hide his health issues). Things I didn't like about the debate: - They (BOTH candidates) almost COMPLETELY avoided speaking about policy of their 2024-2028 term. - Biden pretending the pandemic would have been handled any differently (lockdowns) if he was in office. - Trump rambling (it was kept to a minimum compared to what I was expecting, but there were 1 or 2 rambles). - Trump not being clear about who in the Jan 6th riots may be considered "patriots" and why (literally doing himself 0 favors, and the very valid conversation we need to have about attacking government buildings is getting completely lost). Things I thought were wild: - Biden bringing up Afghanistan. - Biden still trying to tell Nazis that they have a candidate that thinks they are fine people (literally not what Trump said and I find it disgusting that people insist on telling Nazis they are welcome here because it helps their political party). - Biden short circuiting like twice. Things I would like to see addressed: - Why Biden reads Trump for the tariffs, but he literally kept them. They're helping. Why not just call a spade a spade and move on? - Did Trump actually offer security for Jan 6th? He claimed it was in writing. This should be something we can fact check. - Why did Trump not at least go on Twitter and try to tell people to stop? If I missed it, I missed it, but I think Trump at least could have tried to convince those people to calm tf down. - Why is anyone trying to pretend that our economy sucked under Trump (sans Covid)? Trump gets an F on spending, but literally decreased taxes, while increasing tax revenue. We were doing quite well. - If Biden thought the lockdowns were so bad (since he seemed to think he could somehow keep the economy afloat during covid), what on earth was his plan and why were the Democrats not blaming the lockdowns on Trump (they weren't Trumps fault but that doesn't stop either party from blaming the opposite party president for things they don't like). - Why is Biden so unclear about how we handle illegal immigration? HELLO? Pick a stance, present some policy. - Does Trump think the Russian invasion on Ukraine would have NEVER happened if he was president? Joe definitely immediately fucked them with the shit he pulled in Afghanistan, but there's no way Russia was going to somehow completely trash their plan to take back as much land as they possibly can. Also, fuck Joe Biden's old white ass with several pitchforks for telling me that if I didn't know if I wanted to vote for him, I "ain't" black in like 2019 or w/e. I'm still mad about that.

Girl, you start off by saying the debate is worthless because it shows only a brief show for the camera but then you completely contradict yourself by saying these candidates are not qualified because of the most superficial reasons. Presedential behavior does not define "competence"
@ninjask8ter
@ninjask8ter 10 күн бұрын
He's been at this point for years bro. The major networks haven't shown that and have largely protected Biden. For Biden, the debate was more about a display of cognitive skills and competence or lack thereof, whereas Trump addressed his previous record which were based on facts. For example, issues relating to the border, China, and the economy. I'm not clear about how you would construe those documented facts as lies. Anyway, I live in DC half the year so I've reluctantly been exposed to politics too much. Secondly, I wouldn't characterize Trump as lying, but often times he doesn't finish his thought which is annoying. Maybe you don't like his tweets or personality, but I believe that he did a lot for the country on so many levels.

I would concur, that to make a blanket assertion that 'Trump is a liar' without having any fact to back that up, is wrong and unfair. So much of what Trump says is so obviously him putting words in people mouths about how they said he’s so amazing. Literally anytime he mentions someone he mentions how they’ve told him he’s just the greatest. An example from the debate is when Trump claimed the secretary general of NATO said “Trump did the most incredible job I’ve ever seen” when Trump got them to pay more money… something they weren’t happy doing so why tf would they compliment him. Also Trump claiming that a 10% tariff on all goods imported into the US won’t increase prices is so obviously a lie. And how tf does cutting taxes for the rich spur economic growth for the entire country that’s another blatant lie. He also constantly claims things that aren’t provably false but are highly unlikely such as when he says just before COVID he was ready to completely knock out all of our debt and if it hadn’t been for COVID he would’ve made the US debt free and how if he were in office Putin would’ve never invaded Ukraine since Putin respected Trump too much. Like yeah… sure buddy. The reason Putin didn’t invade Ukraine while Trump was in office was totally out of respect and not because it would be tactically stupid to invade during a pandemic when supply chains were shut down and China also asked Putin not to invade until after the 2022 Beijing Olympics. He also claims that people abort babies after birth. Which would literally just be murder and isn’t abortion at that point.
