I was managing a Babbage's when the Dreamcast came out, and have a couple of fun facts about this one. The American version was actually vaguely de-crapped by removing the cinematic camera, which was not a bad idea but would do such as suddenly sweeping hundreds of feet overhead when you were crossing a narrow bridge. We had a preview videotape (ah, those days of yore) that showcased how disorienting and badly-implemented it was. The release was also phenomenally buggy, with most discs just plain not working. I had a workday where I sat at the desk in the office with a stack of working discs in paper sleeves and had to X out the defects with a sharpie as they came back, there were so many.

I think that one of the major targets of the youtube copyright is Rooster Teeth/Achievement Hunter and personally I think most of the videos they make are fantastic and it seems odd that gaming companies would have a problem with it because I can't tell you how many games both Yahtzee and Rooster Teeth have got me into (Dark Souls, Just Cause 2, Portal, Worms (XBLA), Half-Life) to name a few and they are getting good exposure in most cases and let's be honest if a game is bad then any publicity is better than none. Mojang are a company that really seem to appreciate Rooster Teeth because on the 360 version of Minecraft they put the Tower Of Pimps into the tutorial world and it must have got them so many more people playing Minecraft (on both console and PC). Personally I am completely in the favour of the Let's Players because it hurts no one

What a backer of Kickstarter is entitled to is: * That the people will make a genuine attempt at making what they promised to make. * That the people will respond to comments on their Kickstarter page, and that they will post updates and the such, so as to keep their backers up to date and let them know what is happening to the project they contributed to. * That they will get their respective pledge rewards, if the project is finished. Technically, those who make the project are legally required to honour all pledge rewards, but Kickstarter asks that people don't make a fuss about failed projects, as long as a genuine attempt was made. Essentially, backers may feel a sense of entitlement and/or ownership of the project ...but that is, to some extent, justified. A backer isn't just some customer. A backer is entitled to more than a mere customer. A backer is *not* a mere donator. A backer is entitled that which I mentioned above. A donator isn't entitled to anything. So on the Mighty no.9 issue... They can choose whatever community person they want. The backers are not entitled to have a choice in that ...but they choose rather badly, and the backers have ever right to complain.

I had to MacGuyver my Dreamcast to make it work again. It seems the lid has a small plastic poke pushing down a specific part on the circuit board that registers if the lid is closed. Without it, it skips the disc and doesn't load properly or reboots back to the main screen. The spring was weakened after several years without use and thus complained about the lid not being closed when putting a disc in (putting the Dreamcast upside down and using its own weight on the lid can be a workaround in some cases). Screwed the body open, taped a piece of cardboard on the plastic poke and now it works surprisingly well again. Tried using a paperclip and a rubber band first, but the band was too flexible to be of any use.
