In the summer, the trees are full of red bugs.
These guys were spotted lanternfly larvae.
The rainy season continued for several days, after which the spotted lanternflies developed into adults.
I've been getting rid of the pest spotted lanternfly since 3 years ago, and I caught a bunch of spotted lanternfly this time too.
And he gave the spotted lanternflies he caught to katydids and mantises.

It really is satisfying to watch you not only raise generations of Mantis, but assist your countryside with an invasive pest- one by one! Maybe the descendants of Kiwi which you release will truly have a strong preference for the lantern flies and continue your tradition on their own 🫶🏻

Coincidentally, there are reports of lanternflies popping up on the East Coast of the US, with a local news segment that came out today. They are a concern for agriculture in the country. Lanternflies must like temperate climates and humidity. They don't seem to be a major concern on the West Coast of the US, where it is either cold and rainy (Pacific Northwest) or hot and dry (California).

안녕하세요! 제발돼라님 전 초등학교4학년 어린이입니다. 곤충과 동물을 좋아해서 현재 달팽이를 키우고있고 수많은 동물인형들이 있습니다. 그래서 항상 잘 챙겨보는데, 이제 한 1년 넘었을거에요. 곤충을사랑하시는 제발돼라님의 모습이 존경스럽습니다. 제가 달팽이를 좋아해서 키우게 되었는데 응애벌레..가? 생겼더라구요 ㅠㅠ 그래서 온욕을 자주 해주었지만 결국 5마리가 박멸당했습니다. 그때부터 달팽이 응애벌레를 자주검색했는데 제발돼라님의 영상이 나왔습니다. 그리고 계속봤는데, 제 또래만한 아이도 있더라구요😂 키위랑 키키, 키위의 손주들 팬이었습니다ㅏ❤❤ 키위는 곤충나라로 떠났지만 키위의 손주들 건강하게 자랐으면 좋겠어요😊 언젠간 한번 사마귀를 키우는것도 나쁘진 않을것같네요🎉🎉

꽃매미만 보이면 밟아죽이는 꽃매미 퇴치 전문가였는데 한동안 꽃매미가 안보여서 퇴치된줄 알았더니 다시 활동할 때인것 같군요

When I see a laternfly my first time, I thought it was some ladybug spider. But then, my dad and me were going to the Bronx Zoo. I’ve seen laternfly trap bags on the tree, I didn’t know what it was..But, I’ve read the sign and I know it all about it now.

These spotted lanternflies are quite a serious pest and I'm glad we don't have these in Australia otherwise they'd be wreaking havoc on our fruit trees.

I'm glad I came across this video. I've never seen spotted lanternflies before, until now. They're everywhere here in Brooklyn. They first showed up in 2020 in Staten Island, somehow.

Yep, first came to US through Pennsylvania in 2014. They can move about 4 miles in their lifetime, so I’m not surprised you started seeing them on Staten Island recently. They will lay eggs on any solid surface they can find, and people will unknowingly transport it across state lines, that’s another way they get across borders so easily
