So happy to see you back Gary. I’ve missed my favourite art tutor. That picture is breathtaking. I’ve never been very comfortable with plein air painting and have done just quick sketches in my son's garden. I should really try a proper painting now. The view finder is a good idea as I’m easily confused by the abundance of light, shadow and greenery around me. Thank you and welcome back.

LOL...looked like fun. Happened upon your youtube tutorials and haven't stopped watching since. After watching some of your shadows tutorials I got brave (a learner) and put dark shadows and overhanging branch into a painting and really like the impact. I had shadows across a road but these were too wishy-washy and uniform. Thanks for sharing your extensive knowledge - really does help. 😊

@@GaryTuckerArtist More precisely I admire how deliberate you abstract from the object and reduce details while maintaining or even exxaggerating the mood of the scene through lighting and coulours. I dabble a tiny bit with painting but besides lacking the skill-practice to paint the lines exactly as I like, I struggle at times with getting lost in details which then don't fit what i was going for even if i was technically able to paint the details correctly.

thx Carol - I guess we share a sense of humor :)
@indigodande43452 жыл бұрын
Your video taught me an important note - get in there and do colorful washes. Do a next darker shade to suggest bulk objects like the tree and grass. Smallest details last and at this point maybe darkest darks. I'm too technical with my watercolor and its almost ocd.
