Thanks for the shout out Martin. I can see why you would want to hang on to it for now. The engine sounds great and is very clean. Luckily that fuel hose went now than somewhere down the road. Take care, Jeff

I've got the exact same Corgi Acclaim model except mine still has the door mirrors. Once you've got everything buttoned up, I can't see it failing the MoT. Those engines are non-interference which should make redoing the timing belt a bit easier. I had the timing belt snap on my 5th and final Acclaim (Oporto Green 1982 HLS - BCK 142Y). Once I put a new belt on it was fine after that.

Great video Martin. We use fuel pipe bought from eBay on our bangers. It’s the reinforced stuff marked up suitable for unleaded. We’ve had no trouble what so ever with it. Think it’s about £10 for a 3 metre length. Some of the quality of rubber nowadays is shocking, “ I think you described it differently “ 😂

Ideally only ever use specific fuel hose (R9) from a reputable source as it's very hard to know what you're buying and as you say fires are no fun! Also if you want no sparks then remove the low tension side of the ignition rather than the HT side as the coil will still be trying to spark which could damage the coil or result in a spark jumping from the HT connection to the coil body or LT connection.

Don't worry about the language I have heard the word cheap used many times. I haven't bought any auto parts that I put in for a long bit now and can't believe some of the quality out there on the market. Disgraceful. The car is looking really good. Really important. Landrover didn't do that on my Discover Sport after a warranty job. Result was bolt fell out caliper locked on and dug into wheel - at 7am on Sunday morning having got off the ferry at Harwich about to drive to Cornwall on holiday for 2 weeks (with the caravan) Amazingly the house where we came to a halt was home mechanic who had a bolt and fixed us up. Most worrying was less than a week early I was doing well over 100mph on the Autobahn!
