For this series I’ll be taking you with me through New York & New Jersey to various Music Stores & Record Shows. Sifting through CD’s, vinyl, and whatever else the stores have to offer. Then at the end I’ll un-bag the loot and discuss why I chose the ones I did. Come on…let’s go to the record store!

This is definitely one of the newest & coolest record stores to pop up in northern NJ in quite some time! They also have a lounge just past the front register where anything from live music to listening parties take place every now and again. Thanx for showcasing this newest jewel in NJ.

Whoever’s doing the background music has excellent taste! Would love more stores like this in the UK, other than HMV there’s not much and definitely nothing with such well laid out used vinyl. 👍😬

Great video Brendan. Wish we had stores like that in the UK. I was on holiday a few weeks ago in New York and made a point of visiting Bookoff as I remember you shooting videos there when you lived in the city. I bought a couple of CDs there but wasn’t overly impressed with some of their pricing and the choice on offer. Have you been there yourself recently?

Hope that someday you'll get to check out Tarney/Spencer Band. This British/Australian rock/power pop duo featured singer/songwriter/producer Alan Tarney, who produced for many 80s new wave/synth pop artists, like A-Ha and The Dream Academy (he co-produced the latter's 1985 S/T debut with Pink Floyd's David Gilmour.) TSB's two A&M albums Three's A Crowd (1978) and Run For Your Life (1979) both hit the lower reaches of the Billboard 200 Albums chart. Both of these albums are on CD, but they're super rare, expensive and hard to find. Unfortunately, you cannot stream these albums, either. TSB is best known for the 1979 album rock radio hit "No Time To Lose," which has an arena rock sound/feel to it.

Love that Tarney/Spencer LP, Run For Your Life. It did get some FM radio airplay in 1979, and the LP is usually easy to find and inexpensive, so it makes for an excellent buy. Every song is above average to excellent..

@@4tuneagent I own RFYL on vinyl. Bought it used for $2 at a used record store. Vinyl is totally clean. Wish I could get it on CD for a halfway decent price. Either Rock Candy or UMGJ should reissue the TSB A&M albums on CD. "No Time To Lose" is likely the hidden gem that Brendon hasn't heard, yet. Or maybe he heard it once before in the past, and he might have forgotten all about it because of all the great new music that came out at the time and excited him more than a cool obscure late 70s song did.

I enjoy that you will always throw on these "this my favorite album from such & such" I've noticed a lot of the time its later releases after the critics & the public have written a band off. I'm a completest so if I like an artist I have to own it all & sometimes I'm surprised by releases that have come after the hits have vanished. Proving that the fickle nature of the buying public has denied many a great artist or album a fair shot.

Hi Brendon, from here in Western Australia. There was a time here when every shopping centre had numerous record stores to browse through. Much to my wife's frustration, they were always my first port of call any time we went shopping. Since streaming killed of so may record stores, there are only a couple of dedicated music stores in existence here. The nearest one to me is nearly 30 miles away, consequently, I buy everything online. I would be in seventh heaven if there was a store like that here.

For some reason (probably because I was 12 and had limited disposable income), I didn't get any of the four solo albums when they came out in '78. It was many years later when I found a copy of Ace's album on CD and really started getting into it. I do remember that Gene Simmons even said in an interview that he thought Ace's was the best.@@overtheedge4711

Excellent video again always cool seeing these places. Love the selection that this has and also the pricing is good I am sure there are some overpriced stuff but again nothing is as bad as NYC with Book Off the only credit I can give them now is that they re organized and now the cd dvd and vinyl is downstairs and properly organized but WAY overpriced good lord. This video I saw you holding things that were used 4.95 that here are 9.00 and up for used are you kidding me, and my recent walk in to Book Off though once again I bought nothing there and haven't in probably a year, they had the new stones, used, the DigiPak version that had the bigger book which I got new from Barnes and Noble for 16 they had used for 26.99 lol. And since it's a cardboard packaging their giant price sticker ruins it, so again they have totally taken advantage of what they can get because of nothing else around pretty much. Another thing I like in your video is the space you have to move, here in NYC not one store has space at all mainly because of rents probably but even though the ones I buy from or shop around most, none have any space to move. So to me thats part of why I will search more and buy more if I can move a little more. But again sorry to rant/ramble happy new year and keep the videos coming

The Eric Clapton cd, had a sticker of Andys Records, haven't seen that for years, this was a UK based record shops, mainly in the east of England, I spent much of my youth in the Bedford branch in the High Street, flicking through the vinyl, they moved to larger premises in bedford with the advent of cds, originally a market stall, finally succumbed to market pressures and fell by the wayside years ago, very strange to see a cd with the Andys Records sticker in the US

Unfortunately Jimmy Page only scored very few movies. I really like his scores for the second and third Death Wish films. The british director Michael Winner always had a pretty good taste when it came to his composers. Death Wish 1 for example was scored by Herbie Hancock. Also pretty cool music. But most often Winner worked together with the late Jerry Fielding who is one of my all time favorite composers. He had a very uncompromising style that was perfect for those gritty 70s films. Check out his scores to The Wild Bunch, The Mechanic, Lawman, Chato`s Land, Straw Dogs and Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia. Great stuff.

@@briankessler3501 well I haven't bought anything released by any of those artists post 1995 but I did like and did buy Ozzy's Patient Number Nine album the other year as I thought it might be his last, and I thought it was good. In contrast, a modern pop artist I do think is excellent is Dua Lipa. I think she's underrated compared to the likes of Taylor, and, if it matters, I think she's hotter too. I wasn't just saying Swift is overrated compared to dinosaur rock acts. I think she's overrated and overhyped compared to anything else that's 'current' too.
