Japanese is her first but DAMN does she have perfect English

Sub She's half/half. She grew up in (Virtual) America, then moved to (Virtual) Japan, then forgot a lot of English, then had to relearn English.

It's always trippy to hear bilingual people do that. I guess it's because your mouth rests in different positions for different languages, so you end up with a different accent for the different 'mode' in your mouth

@@chocobun4879 Her actual ethnicity aside, she's definitely spent a lot of time in the US. I don't know if her accent is full on native, but she has a very good grasp of the language. It's hard to tell if she's full on native, because she purposely dresses up her actual accent most of the time for the other vtubers.

@@piranhaplantX Having learned of her from clips later into her career, it was weird to go back to some of her first streams, where she at times sounds less like a Japanese person who's really good at English, and more like an American who's really good at Japanese.

@@b2modby Yup, this makes the most sense to me. While a lot of people say she has a perfect English accent. To some of us who are used to hearing your typical American accents, something about hers is a bit off. Usually you can sort of place someone because of subtle regional accent differences. Like "oh, they sound like my grandad from Minnesota" or "ah, a fellow Chicagoan" or "oh god, they're from Boston." I can't do that with hers. It definitely feels like a foreigner who has achieved native level understanding, or a native who moved to Japan early on their life and spent most of their life there. Though, after reading some more comments. It would make sense if she had a parent that spoke English too, and she just learned it from a young age.
