1° of all "prime stat" is a great idea. BUT Influence & intimidation should BOTH be prime avilities, Treat by strength,charisma and inteligence (the obligatory "how i will do horrible stuff to you method") should be universal

Well there is a rule that if you think another ability fits better for what you want to do you, for example, if you wanted to intimidate someone by doing fancy sword flurishes, you could do intimidation with Dex instead

So today's session went pretty well. Slower than most due to the learning curve all around. We tested everything from spell duels to maneuvers and techniques, teamwork and tactics. I tried a more chaotic version of the listed initiative system, but it wasn't worth the confusion. I'll be moving back to RAW on that one.

Yeah the game I played was slower due to the learning curve and also having 6 player. But even still I have had longer combats in dnd around similar levels with a smaller mor experienced group. I Just thought of a great idea for a video that im not capable of making right now. Get 2 equal sized groups, 1 for dnd and 1 for DC20. Create a relativly similar combat for both and then watch them both play to see what kind of differences there are in, speed, teamwork, enjoyment, ect.

I'd say you could use charisma for bartending skills like that flippy stuff folks do with bottles if you've got brewing supplies skills.

It definitely could use CHA instead of DEX, flexibility is the key to DC20

Stat gains is that happening at level gains ?

There is a chart for level progression that shows when you increase stats and there max caps. And the is a chart for each class that goes over things like extra hp, sp, mp, ect

one thing that concerns me about this system is the stacking advantage through action points. What's stopping you from having a 4 dice advantage when rolling something out of combat because you spend that "turn" focusing on that roll?
@brandonlaneva
@brandonlaneva 6 ай бұрын
Thats a fair concern, there is a section in the Alpha rules that does mention that gaining advantage though Action Points is only in combat situations. "Outside of combat you would be making sigular Skill Checks and would have to gain advantage though other Sources (other allies, magic items, features, etc.)"

@@brandonlaneva yes but it's weird isn't it? Like, if I'm trying to pick a lock during combat to, say, free some captives, I can be so much better in it if I do it with an inminent threat and in 6 seconds than taking my time afterwards. The only reason i could accept this is for cinematic effect, but not logical. It can be kind of exploited but I guess the DM has the final say in these things. I really like this system but I can't overlook the flaw in this logic
