Ok, I am already your fan! I agree with the previous comment, it's not exactly an easy langauge... it doens't seem to any other I've already studied... but your lessons are creative, fun, inovating... it's a pleasure to wacth you and we really learn, not only new voabulary, but also about your culture. Thanks! :D

I agree. I think we say that because it's a different langauge when compared to others (I've already studied English, Portuguese, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Norwegian, and some dialects, and Estonian is different from them all!). To find good material to study was an obstacle too, but now I am much more confident. And, when I watch the videos the way you present the things really makes things seem easy. After we finish, we alrady can speak something, which stimulant.

we expatriate Estonian who fled the Bolshevik invasion in 44 to Germany -the lesser of the two totalitarian systems- my mother told me years later - celebrated Xmas similar to our homeland with actual small fir trees ! at that time there I remember in 49 the snow lumi was thick on the ground and the windows frosted over with icicles hanging down from the eves - I had my own kelk we sang something that went Oh joulu puu Oh joulu puu paneme kunlad pulema ( excuse the spelling !!!! I still remember the smell of the needles as the candles warmed the branches - funny how such memories stick in one mind down through the years Maybe I will visit Estonia before I die, to my home town Parnu at least I could drink the local beer and make my self understood with the locals

With respect to noun cases and verb conjugations, will screwing up sometimes on the consonant gradation cause a lot of comprehension trouble? Consonant gradation seems to be the only confusing part to me in estonian.

Funny, piparkook in Dutch would be peperkoek and sound so similar that if you would use the Estonian word in a Dutch store they would know what you mean!

javid Marley In Estonia you will probably need to learn Esotnian, but you will have a chance to learn Russian as well as there's a lot of people who have Russian roots living in Tallinn. Weather wise, probably warm and waterproof is a good idea. We never know what kind of winter will come. It can be reallly cold or it can be rainy. We never know :D especially these days :),

Spanish seems closer to English than Estonian, probably due to Latin influence. Many Spanish words are close to English words.
@Wolvinius
@Wolvinius 6 жыл бұрын
Estonian language is pronounced as Spanish, you say as you read. And English is much closer to French (Normandy French), Spanish borrowed from French and Italian. French is heavily influence by Latin.
