@@TheFrogfeeder be sure to check if your phone has an update available. Connection issues can occur when you don’t update your phone. Had it happen to me a few months ago.

There was an issue with my unconnect my screen kept reporting Important update needed for functions . I took it to the dealership and both #'s match now so I guess I'm good it just was updated today so I'll check it out in the morning! Thanks for your videos they are helping this girl learn about all these bells and whistles

Do you have factory navigation?

No but we shouldnt need factory navigation for a phone call

That’s one of the changes that has been made. A radio without factory navigation doesn’t have the same voice recognition (VR) capability as previous radios. Previous radios had two types of VR systems. One VR was through the UConnect system. This is what allowed you to make a phone call, change the radio station, etc. by tapping the VR (or phone) button on the steering wheel. The second VR system was run through your cell phone. By pressing and holding the VR button, you are able to use Siri or Google Assistant to make phone calls and access music from your phone. In vehicles with the UConnect 5 system without factory navigation, you can still make phone calls using the second VR system. Press the VR,or phone button, on the steering wheel, wait for the beep from Siri/Google assistant and then say, “Call John Doe.” As long as you have Siri/Google Assistant activated, then the biggest change for you is how long you have to hold the VR button to get the prompt.

Thanks, that's what I suspected. The camera has been doing weird things on and off since I picked up the truck. I got a camera not available message that went away after a little while. Today when I shifted into reverse there was no camera image...just the normal media screen that I was on. That problem went away after a couple of engine re-starts. I guess I'm taking it back to the dealer...just over 100 miles on the odometer.

Not for the camera. You can only adjust the brightness of the radio screen.

Tint film on the camera maybe?

When my truck did this, I took it in for the service department to address. It was several years ago and a previous generation of the UConnect system.

Could be a couple of reasons. First, this is the 8.4” screen. You might have been watching videos with the 10” screen. Second, this doesn’t have factory Nav. so the bezel around the screen isn’t the same. Related to that the screens for the 8.4 radios with factory Nav are flush with the bezels and have a glossier look.

That was a nice surprise that we (salespeople) weren’t told about when UConnect 5 was introduced to us. You can still use the VR button to access Siri or Google Assistant by holding the VR button down until the prompt comes up.

@Preston Flaniken Sells Cars yes it works with Android Auto but it won't work if I'm not connected....kind of disappointing but not a huge deal....nobody told me that though

I understand. I guess the bright side is that with UC5, you have wireless Android Auto capabilities.

The media button allows you to change your source of music. AM/FM/Satellite/Bluetooth/USB. Is that what you are wanting to know?
