Follow along as I show how to make a toy. This is Tumble Top, my new rock-paper-scissor spin top. In Part 1 you will see how I created the digital model using Autodesk Fusion 360.

Tumble Tops debut at New York Comic Con at the MyPlasticHeart booth 113. I will be doing product demos on Friday Oct 7th from 5-6 PM and Saturday Oct 8th from 3-4 PM so come on by!
The 3D printing service I used was Stratasys and I definitely recommend you try them if you're looking for high quality prints!

Thanks so much! I'm surprised Stratasys doesn't ship outside of the US. Maybe not for their express service but they should for their regular service? If not, I'm still sure you could find another company. There's 3D printing services all around the world.

I would love to see the more in depth creation in fusion
@RelixWorks
@RelixWorks 7 жыл бұрын
I'd love to show more but honestly I made a lot of mistakes since it was my first time 3D modeling my tops. But I do have prototypes that I designed in Fusion so maybe I'll do a video talking more in depth about how I figured out how to create each part of the figures. If you're looking for tutorials though I highly recommend watching a bunch of the videos on Autodesk Fusion's channel.

i want to create figures like this... so basically simple stuff like popfigures and this one out of the video i can do with fusion 360... but what abotu real faces and real muscular action figures? is this also possible in fusion? everybody telling me blender or any other modeling software is better for this kind of stuff? thx
@RelixWorks
@RelixWorks 5 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for checking out my video! I would highly recommend learning Blender since it has a variety of powerful digital sculpting tools. If you've never worked with real physical clay before I would do that first. It's important to establish a sense of real-world spatial awareness and build your hand-eye coordination. Otherwise when you go digital, everything won't look realistic. So yeah, try real clay first but blender is your best bet on a budget.

how do you create articulations of hands, arms or joints for action figures on Fusion 360?
@RelixWorks
@RelixWorks 7 жыл бұрын
I haven't done this myself so I can't offer much help. But I think that if you study action figures, most of them use ball joints. So creating a ball peg shape and then making a socket to fit over it. This could be achieved using spheres and cylinders and dimensioning them to the correct tolerances.

How did you do the Project to Surface command on Fusion 360? I can't seem to get that part right.. the Project to Surface function seems to be different.
@RelixWorks
@RelixWorks 3 жыл бұрын
Fusion 360 is constantly getting updated so they may have changed how that command works. To be honest, I'm a bit rusty with this software since I've been busy with developing Relix but I plan to get back into 3D printing soon! I found a more recent video that might better explain how to use the project to surface command. Let me know if it helps! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nb6ZosyGm9HFd3k.html
