To help with the smoothness of the clay ones, you could take them out before they’re fully dry and texture the outside with a ball of aluminum foil.

A great one, Mel! Thank you. Also, just wanted to share that if you play any GW games and get their ForgeWorld stuff, the hunks of resin that are often attached to their larger parts make great tank traps as well. Almost the perfect shape, and a nice resin to boot. I'll try to toss a pic into the FB group! Keep it up!!

Another great video Mel, well done mate. I must admit that I love these how to make videos, they are really interesting and super useful too. Is there any chance of doing something more village like in the near future? Perhaps a couple of roads crossing with some sign posts and a bus stop, a little bit of pavement, maybe a small wall of a churchyard etc....that kind of thing???? I think it would be interesting and useful to a lot of people. Many thanks Mel and have fun mate, Joe

Brilliant. And its all homemade, actually, i didn't add grit because I use these models for scale RC battlefield like you might see at the RC RC RC! channel so i used the clay models because the I tried the egg cartons but they broke under the tank. These are Amazing, great job.

Like a warm snuggle comfort blanket, your videos are great. I've used the egg box method myself before. No idea where I put them though. The foam ones were really good and love the paint jobs Mel.

Is it possible you could do a tutorial on making industrial themed bric-a-brac for 40k/used future type stuff Mel? Stuff along the lines of pallets/mining stuff... the type of detritus you might find in a work area, empty pallets/stacks of empty pallets/pallets with building stuff on????? Cheers mate!!!!!!!

Love the DAS traps, if you had the right shape of ice cube tray, they'd come out amazing I think. Best of the three, in my opinion. The stippling gives them a lovely realistic concrete texture. Only thing you might want to do is to darken the grass around the traps, but that's not really the point of the tutorial. Great work!

Another thing you could do is set clay in the planters. Then you get the extra weight and good shape.

Hi Mel ! Great video as always !! :) Could you (or everyone else) tell me what kind of material do you use for your bases (and the thickness too) ? I'm from France and I do my best to try to understand what is it, but I don't get it ;) It seems to me that it's a sort of PVC, but I'm not sure. Anyway, English friends, please reveal me that secret ! Thanks from Brittany ! :)

yes ... but you will get a very smooth surface, you can grinding the surface with coarse sandpaper or smear it with PVA glue and dip it in the sand, then it will look like concrete

Ok Mel, I think ya missed a golden moment. Your videos used to have more "reality" in them. When you encountered the planters sticking together, you cut and went forward. I think it would have been funner to watch you struggle a little bit. Just leave it in. The quality of your videos has gotten up to professional standards... but they seem a bit rushed. All these cuts and fast forwards are good for the tutorial aspect, but what about the entertainment value of the videos? I know its a fine balance. You dont want to have anybody get bored, but by the same token our attention span isnt so short we cant enjoy YOU having fun too. Or suffering a little, like the rest of us. I hope you know what I'm trying to say, but I have been working on keeping my comments shorter. ;-)

You get plenty of me suffering on the live shows! Point taken mate but to put it in context, the let's makes are essentially gateway vids to get new people hooked before I hit them with a full on technical tutorial with all the cockups and yeahs mate ;-D
