Как сейчас помею. Трудовик однажды нам рассказывал о том, что он в молодости (думаю это годы 60-70-80 были) с друзьями собирал подшипники. Они собирали подшипники на свалках (вроде бы), а затем переплавляли их и получались отличные ножи.

A handle you find perfect someone else may find too big. Not everyone's hands are the same size, there's a reason old tools often have all sorts of sized handles, they were made for who was using it

I agree with you on the aesthetics, it doesn’t look nice or cool but like the fellow above me said, different sized hands and if the thing is gonna be used it should be comfortable. Even yourself, depending on what you’re doing with it you might find different sizes for carving wood than for cutting it steak. However, there’s no getting around the fact that the handle is borderline ugly. I make many of my own tools. If I have a task and want something specific that can’t be found such as a fancy shaped wedge with blades or fins that split a piece of firewood into 8 pieces using a sledgehammer and a single blow.

Помню по молодости тож хотел нож из ШХи замутить но старые роботяги пальцем у виска покрутили. А вот наконечники для гарпуна супер при условии что в термичке есть грамотный чел.

Сделал себе нож охотничий из ШХ15, закадил в масле, отпустил. Твёрдость HV 54-55ед. Сделал химическое оксидирование. Ничего не ржавеет. Очень бриткий и крепкий нож. В лесу только им и пользуюсь. Делал из 9хс, 9хв,р6м5, 40хвг, из ШХ в итоге 4 штуки сделал, всем нравятся)

@@user-iv6nt5di7n Да с такими руками и клинок нах не нужен. Подшипник колет лёгким движением руки, черенок одним движением отрезал, аки ножовочкой пилил. Я бы не удивился, если бы он ковал не молотком а тоже рукой, и точил трёхдневной щетиной.

Ну, ничего, нормально... Высокохромистая подшипниковая сталь вполне может обеспечить весьма высокую микротвёрдость... Подобающая термическая обработка, правильный выбор абразива - и можно побриться..!

Хороший совет тебе, если делаешь ножи, закалвай их в самом плохом хозяйственном мыле. 2. Не Сади ножи на эпокситку. Эпоксидкой не проливай дерево никогда.

Yeah that bearing race steel is some pretty good steel. That knife will hold and edge alright as long as you temper it correctly.

Сталь, я думаю будет очень твердая, потому и хрупкая, но зато заточку будет держать, главное на излом, не работать. Но снято красиво.🎉

I don't know if bearing collar metal is super hard steel, or is just this right size to shape said blade. Clever egg simile. At 1st thought this dude is sure organized, 'a place for everything...and everything in its place'...then realized I am an idiot. Nicely done!

@Odd BoroFiend boring, chunky and only glued in place.... Nice finish to the wood but for the work done was disappointing to see the end result be so basic

@@jay36963 and the basic works. This isn't a combat knife, or a knife dedicated to any sort of heavy-duty work labor. Also most actual knife makers will tell you that a quality epoxy, mixed well, and used properly, we'll make the blade pretty much impossible to remove from the handle without destroying the handle material. It's boring to some, basic to others, but shines in it's overall simplicity, the ability of someone with less knowledge and skill to reproduce themselves, and the basic function and beauty. There wasn't really a whole lot of work as far as knife making goes if we're being quite honest. Straightforward afternoon blade project. Handle is also likely a nice hard wood, so looks good and functions properly for many years to come. Don't be hatin... ;)

@Odd BoroFiend didn't say hate... so GFYS... it was an opinion... he took a lot of time making the blade even if it is basic, the handle is just a handle cut down a vanished... epoxy is good but long term not ideal, if the handle cracks and needs replacing it'd be easier done with a pin or screw design... in my opinion, it's boring and I was disappointed with it same as your mother is with you. Have a nice day

Ручка конечно убого вышла... Тяп-ляп на эпоксидку,больстер отсутствует, торец не обработан. В общем на скорую руку. Типа срочно нужен рабочий нож без излишеств и подешевле.

Ah, a sword. If you don't understand why this is funny, allow me to explain. The thing that used to sometimes differentiate swords and knifes in europe was the way that the handle was made. Knifes were two plates put on either side of the tang and riveted into place, and swords had their tang stuck into a piece of wood like seen in the video.

Well... Than swords and knives should be done with the same technique, that is: fixed up to the handle with rivets.
