Plot twist, he's been eating the kids and replacing them with street urchins. 2e is so busy making more he doesn't even notice the kids don't look anything like they used to.

I have over 1000 hours in CK2 and Gavelkind is still a mystery. Sometimes it works the way you'd think, sometimes it screws you over hard.

You may need to change your religion to be a follower of your court physician, and build giant statues in his honor. That man works so many miracles for you.

When you lost the sieges, 2 baronies still remained untaken. From them, you raised the few levies you had but if both titles would have fallen into your hands 'by chance' you have enough troops to retake your other holdings earlier. Now being a staby staby dude you might 'acquire' the baronies anyway ;)

According to the croissant's wiki page "The legends include tales that it was invented in Europe to celebrate the defeat of the Umayyad forces by the Franks at the Battle of Tours in 732, with the shape representing the Islamic crescent; that it was invented in Buda; or, according to other sources, in Vienna in 1683 to celebrate the defeat of the Ottomans by Christian forces in the siege of the city, as a reference to the crescents on the Ottoman flags, when bakers staying up all night heard the tunneling operation and gave the alarm." So they actually might eat croissants at those times, although extremely unlikely

Jakub Klecki The 1683 scenario is MUCH more likely and well known. So I would go with that as I've never heard of the 732 date and I do have a detailed knowledge of European history.

I couldn't keep track of all the wars, so this happened: June 780 - King Karloman dies, invalidating his war with Saxony. Pepin (son?) takes the two titles; West and Middle Francia. Thomas the Cruel and Theodrico IV, heirs of King Karl of West Francia, start a revolt to claim the thrones for Theodrico almost immediately. King Karl was deposed by Count 2e71828 of Paris in the 778 War Against King Karl's Tyranny (Ep. 2, 15:00). February 9, 784 - Hnabi the Lecher claims that they crowned the wrong Pepin. And starts a war to get Pepin the Hunchback on the throne. April 24, 783 - Child King Pepin, remembering his history---or maybe he really likes the French culture---decides he'd rather have Middle Francia as his primary title, or something. September 783 - King Pepin, genius that he might be, forms an alliance with the King of Bavaria. Bavaria defends King Pepin. November 1, 783 - But then the Lolards revolt against King Pepin and Middle Francia. Mid-December 783 - A duke(?) of Saxony, seeing their rival weak, broken, and shattered attempts to claim Friesland, starting a fifth war. June 1 784 - After a 4-year war, Theodrico IV usurps Middle Francia from Pepin. Much like(?) his father King Karl, Theodrico quickly dispatches of ongoing Lolard rebellion. August 784 - Another duke of Saxony attempts to claim part of northeastern West Francia. January - March, 785 - The Second West Francian Lolard revolt. It wasn't particularly notable.

It's good fun, but like most paradox games, it's learning curve is less of a curve and more of a vertical line. And even once you know how to play it, there will still be stuff you don't know or understand, but that's just paradox games. CK2 is a bit harder still because of all the family trees and marriage stuff (and the court and vassal system which can be a pain). I'd still say it's worth learning how to play. It's an extremely fun game to both watch and play.

Gavelkind won't distribute titles if they fall within your De Jure territory. So, as a count, you don't lose your baronies if they fall within your direct county. Same holds true for being a duke. King tier though leads to the kids "deciding to live independent of your rule".

I am really interested in trying out this game, but the barrier of entrance is just too high to get anything from it. Keep it up Quill it is a joy to watch :) Give that Doctor of yours a title as a reward for curing everything!

Try playing as an Irish count. It makes the game quite easy to start. I think Arumba has a beginner's guide starting there. That's how I learnt :)

Not so much the learning curve, but more the price for getting the game up to a decent state with patches and additions. Tried the demo at one point... I did not understand anything. The vassals just went to war, and you couldn't do anything to stop them.

Vanilla is perfectly fine. It's actually easier than with all the expansions. You'll just have to play as Western European.

The first time I played CK2 I was shocked. I didnt understand why people liked playing a game where literally nothing happens. But.. I was too bored to stop playing and before i knew it, I realized I prefer this to other RPGs where things actually do happen.

correction she bore both sons while suffering from cancer and your first born was clearly born premature hence his unhealthyness at birth then got smallpox so he either is getting his bad luck out of the way as a child or he is born under a curse.

Like the Lombards at the very beginning. Marrying one of the Lombard King's daughters gives you a claim on Lombardy.

Use ultimogeniture until something better comes along. Pretty sure just need next level of CA. Plua it's easy to get long reign if you start ruling young

Rodrigo Garcia-Padilla Crown Authority is only without Conclave DLC. With DLC, you need Legalism 3(tech) and Late Feudal Administration(law)

Watching this series I wondered if I should go and buy CK2. Checked Steam and it is on sale. Th price for the game is OK. But then I saw all the DLC and decided against purchase :(

maybe its just me, but im pausing the playback constantly to read the tool tips that pop up. gotta figure out whats going on... and i have played this game back when it first came out, but danm Paradox keeps adding new stuff and changing the old... protip: never update a parodox game if you have a good one going on, the update will mess up everything! EVERYTHING!
