We do know. Every Duke/Kingdom title has a capital county and the AI is programmed to desire it so that he can make it his capital, for example, the capital of the Kingdom England is London. So long quill is under the Kingdom of West Francia/France the King of it will desire the county of Paris.

To be fair, a Muslim thinking he's hearing the voice of Jesus is not as paradoxical as it sounds; Muslims do believe that Jesus was a prophet (not that a secret Muslim in medieval France is likely to be theologically versed anyway).

Banazir864 yeah that's a common misconception. Islam believes that Jesus was a prophet however like the Jewish they do not believe in him being Messias.

Actually Islam do states Jesus is prophet and messiah but instead of crucified he was ascended to heavens by God and will come back on judgement day and defeat anticrist

You cannot make Glitterhoof your heir, but you can have him educate your heir with the heritage focus, giving them horse culture. Give your heir a landed title an send all non-horse characters in their court away. New characters will spawn for their council, including, with luck, some horses. Bed a horse, legitimise the horsey bastards and get your own horse hair... I mean heir =D

Nope, apparently it was a bug, but apparently the devs decided not to fix it. It can't happen by accident, only a human player who's actively trying can make it happen (or maybe someone who is serious about roleplaying his current ruler's lunacy). And yes, it's hillarious. I read one reddit report where someone make a horse empress of Rome. CK II is the best game ever!

ツQuill, every duchy, kingdom, and empire has their historical capital hard wired into the game. The AI will automatically press for that capital for any title that it holds. These usually have more holding slots or are advantageous for some other reason (coastal, trade route, etc.), which is why these places became the real capitals in the first place for the game designers to model the map on. I haven't found anywhere in he game where it says what that capital is (I assume because the GDs want you to work it out), but there may be a list on the wiki. If not, just type in the name of the holding into Wikipedia and you should find the info pretty quickly.

It's nice of you to put down so many of your enemies rebellions for them, I guess, but the black-and-red flagged troops aren't actually any danger to you most of the time!

Quill! A red and black flag is the universal flag of a rebel. Why are you killing your liege's rebels while you are at war with him? That is the opposite of what you should be doing.

Also the red flag was Normandy. They are rebelling also. You are not at war with them, just hostile. Not every red army is your enemy!

Fivelt Omland It does help his liege. Quill is essentially saving his liege's manpower by wasting his own. Those rebel armies could have also been a distraction to keep the liege from focusing on Quill.

Aye but the king's dukes provide levies so indirectly it still helps the leige. Every part about how Quill managed that war was kinda hilarious and only barely workable. Not to mention the claim business (both fabricated and plotted).

And half the army's you fought was not actually at war with you, just people rebeling. So you actually helped your enemy, the dutchess of Orleans. You have to keep an eye on those flags.

My issue with shattered retreat is that it's not even remotely realistic. It makes sense in EU4, but in this period one battle was often huge in deciding a wars outcome. Armies of peasants did not fight, retreat, regroup and continue in an organized fashion as shattered retreat suggests in this period. Granted the ping ponging that happens with shattered retreat off isn't realistic either, but it's better than having shattered retreat on.

Yes it does. And Bavaria is called Bayern in their own language, German. Which is not at all similar. Also, Hungary almost means hambriento in English :) so the place is apparently cursed, when it comes to names.

Please, please, please learn to identify which armies are *actually* your enemies. Not all of them were and you wasted troops fighting your enemies' enemies. Also, please check you have commanders assigned whenever you've merged up your armies. That battle you lost was at least partly because you had no commanders on the flanks.

I love how when the area of France is in total AI hands, the French King/Emperor doesnt give a shit about where his capital is and who owns Paris aslong as its a vassal of him. But GOD BEHOLD a players plays as count of Paris.

Btw, if your ruler is a lunatic you get the option in the great works menu to build a giant statue of Glitterhoof. You'll have to pause construction if you lose the trait or if the ruler dies and his heir is not also a lunatic, though. So it can definitely take a while to finish the enormous horse statue. Only loons are allowed to build on it. Definitely worth saving up for if one of your early rulers is one. Get started early and you might just have it done by 1453.

This is why they added the ability to decide what decisions are classed as important. So the alert for decisions avaible is meaningful and makes you look at them

Quill you need to start assigning leaders for your army. Quite often when you merge armies, flanks will end up without leaders or with terrible ones. With the bonuses from tactics its extremely important you remember to do it yourself and not leave it up to the game.

Very minor thing but I think that as a Count you don't get tech so you gain nothing by assigning the council members to improving tech. Fun series but enjoying the defense of Paris so far. Will probably make the Kings of proto-France weak forever until Quill gains the throne though. :)

I'm not as experienced in this game as Quill18, why is he actively attacking and killing the peasant revolts of his enemy? Does that help him somehow? I've always avoided attacking peasant revolts of enemies, and only went after their actual armies. Am I missing a trick? I know I'm commenting late, my apologies.

Paris is the default Capital of France. The AI will always try and make it their Capital if they have the Kingdom of France.

This is several years late, but the word is matrilineaL and not matrilineaR. Also, Francia is pronounced with a hard c/k (Franconia, Frankish, Franks).

he did have to, ticking that box in the search simply shows marriages that will allow a matrilinial marriage, it doesnt auto tick the matrilinneal box when actually marry them off iirc unless that was patched or something

If you look closely, you can see the box is ticked in the actual marriage tab as well and that the text says it's matrilineal.

Muslims recognize Jesus as a prophet, so Jesus whispering in your ear would still be treated the same as if it was Muhammad. Maybe a few weird looks about why Jesus specifically and not Muhammad, but you wouldn't be lashed to a cross.
