Welcome to Let's Play Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness for the PSP. This LP will apply to any version of the game.
In this episode, we are woken up by mom, as we are late for our date with our would-be girlfriend. Or we could be a demon who's out to take over the world. One of the two.

I'm really glad you're doing disgaea. Disgaea is one of those great games that get little to no recognition and deserver a lot more due to how in depth and great the game truly is.

I love it in the intro when there is the pauses in the music in the first cut scene to fake the player that there is an emotional scene about to happen even though laharal doesn't care.

FINALLY!! I salute you sir! Tip: Later on, the Foresights in the shop have really OP item world residents that are pretamed, so use that as you will.

Yes, "Bull's-eye" is basically a critical hit. Conversely, "Nick" means the target was only barely hit, and received less damage.

I am on of those people, I'm enjoying it, I like how it's deep and challenging yet you can still power house your way through by levelling up, I felt like no matter what I did in FFT I could still get owned if I mess up, selecting a special and holding Square to line up really helps as well, I'd say they're(or at least the first) not bad starting points for these types of games, which usually confuse the hell out of me.

It seems like I'd love this game, my biggest problem with most strategy games is that I always wish I could go around and explore the world outside of battles, and in this game you can!

Yes, she is indeed voiced by Michelle Ruff. She also voiced Rukia in the dub of Bleach, Sakuya in God Eater Burst, Salvatore the Magnificent in Disgaea 3... her resume is pretty damn long, I think she has something like 230 credits listed on IMDB.

Woah. Okay so I remember watching your LP of Final Fantasy II ages ago and it was one of the first LPs I watched and I'm now preparing to start making my own videos. I just recently got Disgaea 2, and I'm definitely enjoying it so far. :) I've got to get my hands on this game soon and play it too. ;) I know I've commented on and watched a few videos from the LP already, but I decided I'm gonna watch more from the beginning. Looking forward to all the strategy RPG goodness, HC Bailly. ;)

Ah How I've waited for this,this'll be my first Disgaea lp.Having HC play it is a grand bonus to me,I've played the ps2 version like crazy as a kid,so much that the dialogue is almost vivid in my mind,well the VA anyway.I'll admit I love Etna's VA from the ps2 version alot better than this version but other than that no real complaints,same great game.Im interested to see the endings since I didn't start doing those til Disgaea 2 & onward.I've got so many memories with this game,so excited dood.

One thing I love about thing game is the various volcano terms and names: Laharl = Lahar (Superhot volcanic mudslide) Etna = Mt. Etna on the island of Sicily There are more, but I won't spoil characters

I don't know why but soul eater and Disgaea's art style and story Are simpler because I love both and the characters and voices kinda give me soul eater vibes

It looks that way on the PSP too, due to the resolution. Stretching the video to fill the entire window probably exaggerates it a little, too. I do the best I can with adding some filters to clean it up and sharpen the image. I'm open to suggestions from professional video editors, if they know any way I can further improve the video quality.

I love this game, and I own two of the versions of this game. I have received most of the endings, one of which you can get by losing to the chapter 1 boss. I would like to get the Japanese version of this game and the others as well.

In the DS version, Pleinair's stat aptitudes are through the roof. You can get her as early as the first fight with Midboss, I believe. You have to lose and start a New Game+ to be able to recruit her, but her stats make up for it.

on my version of the game you have access to plenair right from the start of the game along with laharl and etna, guess it's something unique to the PC version which wasn't released until after this LP was made.

It's still in Disgaea 2. I've had a few Armsmasters. It's in all 4 of the games in the main series.

That also works with any command, which is good with healers... You can move to the healer have the character healed and then press "O" (on the character that moved to the healer) to move them back and receive a free heal... because you can continue your turn, just without the option to heal again and you can move your healer out of the conflict.

I'm guessing that monster types get stonger in the future games. Because right now I am playing Disgaea 5 Complete on the Switch and I am using monster in that game. They've been really good. And I haven't played any other games before it.

I love LOVE JRPGS and so I love your channel. Keep making your videos and I will keep watching. Great work. Also I'm curious what JRPGs you would like to lets play in the future. I think the Bount arc is where I quit too. That's right after saving Rukia right? You can watch English in Toonami but you don't get to choose the episode. It's good to hear JYB and her though XD

Actually, Armsmasters aren't in D3 or D4 as the Weapon Mastery system isn't in them. Instead you get innocents that mimic the stat boosts and you have to buy the skills with mana instead of learning them.

I think they are all pretty much Identical in terms of design, with the exception of added content in the PSP and DS versions.

That council girl "Pleneir"(or smth similar) is pretty much OP in DS version. She have guns, aoes, damage - all the sweet stuff.

7:55 - Yeah, monsters don't really start becoming good until about the third game (and once you get to Disgaea D2, certain monsters are amazing for level grinding).

you could edit in the Item God Ending at the end. That way you don't have to go do it and we can still see it.

This game is both funny and creepy. Especially the prinnies, who are actually damned souls! But hey, if you're sent to Hell, I guess being forced to wear Penguin Outfits is better than eternal torture. ;)

Are you gonna do the alternate dead end endings too? You can kill a bunch of allies, get the ending, then quickly catch back up. Also Advanced wars needs this system, letting you redo a characters movement if they haven't attacked yet.

Just gotta say, if there is one thing I love about let's plays it when someone popular plays a niche but awesome game, like Disgaea, and then consequently indoctrinates his viewers into the series. Especially with Disgaea D2 on the horizon, both old fans and NISA will appreciate this.

More grinding than all LP combined. :D I'm playing D1 on my Android atm. Awesome game but the grinding is time consuming but also kinda addictive.

It's Longinus - the spear of Destiny who, so legend says, peirced Christ's side. Quite facinating as Hitler was activing seeking the Spear of Longinus (Longinus being the Roman guard who did the piercing)

Yeah, she's the English voice of Rukia. I still personally like the Japanese voice better, but that's completely subjective. Not sure where you can watch it dubbed though, I haven't watched Bleach since... the Bount arc.

It's more like Lon-guy-nus, according to Catholic folklore Longinus was the Roman centurion who pierced the side of Christ with the spear. A lot of popular media have spears called The Lance of Longinus or the Spear of Destiny which refer to this figure. I've heard the the original name for Kimahri's Spirit Lance in FFX was Longinus, but it was changed to avoid controversy over the religious reference. I'm not sure if that story is true or not.
