What gets me about Americans is they don't even commit properly to the imperial system. If you're going to choose to measure things like you're in a fantasy novel, don't pretend like you're above using "stone" as a unit of weight.

1. Simone estimated the Red Howler monkey to be about the size of a Siamang, a species of gibbon native to Southeast Asia and known for their loud whooping vocalizations. At the largest zoo in the PNW (which Simone probably grew up visiting), they don't have howler monkeys, but they *do* have an enclosure of siamangs, which young visitors often colloquially refer to as "howler monkeys". I'm not saying that the seeds for her blunder had been planted since childhood, but it's /possible/. 2. You know this is a Very Old Game when they name one of the African regions "Rhodesia".

A mythology monster hunting version of this could be fun for kids in that awkward phase where they've temporarily aged out of thinking animals are cool. If you were to spoooky up the map, change the weight, length, and tail length scales to something like how old the monster is, how dangerous it is, and what its weakness is, then I'd say you'd have a fun older kids game on your hands.

Huh. The way this game works reminds me of "America" which unsurprisingly is by the same designer. Except that game has countless different trivia topics, just all American. When I played with my mom, we first played one round with trivia about pie. When we went to the next round, another topic, my mom was relieved and said "Oh, I thought this was a trivia game about pie!" and I said "No, it's many topics - they wouldn't make this game and just quiz you on the same topic over and over . . . " so now I'm seeing this game Fauna and my eyes are darting to the camera and back.

Pat! Marshes and bogs are distinct types of wetlands! Marshes are dominated by herbaceous plants, rather than woody plants (like a swamp) or peat-forming plants (like bogs or fens)! Bogs are full of peat, and are fed primarily by rainwater and are therefore acidic and nutrient-poor environments, unlike fens which are fed primarily by ground water and exhibit a wider range of water qualities!

Interesting fact about the red lionfish, while they are indeed native to the Indo-Pacific oceans, you can find them as an invasive species in the Bahamas, East Coast US, and even the eastern Mediterranean! They wreak havoc on aquatic flora outside of their native habitat, and they can get really out of control with no predators, and strip an entire area of seafloor clean of plant life! However, it's super easy to get a license to scuba spearfish them (at least in the Bahamas), and you can get some tasty fish while helping the local ecosystem!
