Gaslands is my first published game and it just so rad to see people enjoying messing around with it with their friends. 20 cans/one car and 6+ players is a GUARANTEED GOOD TIME. That’s my favourite way to play. At the risk of seeming anal (hell, I’m a game designer, whatcha gonna do?) here’s a couple of rules things for folks watching: - Each time you shift up or down, you take a hazard token - Each vehicle moves, attacks and then there’s a wipeout check for all cars, rather than everyone moving then everyone attacking and then everyone wiping out. - If you accidentally ram yourself, both vehicles can evade, in which case neither rolls any attack dice and both only tale 1 hazard for the collision. - If you hit 6 hazards, you WILL wipeout at the end of the current activation (even if it’s during another vehicle’s activation). The flip check is to see if you wipeout AND move medium & take damage. Can’t wait to hear how you get on with the War Rig. We actually have a free PDF expansion coming later this year from Osprey which gives you a branching narrative campaign centred around taking down the War Rig!

The rules also make you use whichever template you touch - no changing your mind.

I also was thrown off by the fact that your not taking hazards on your shifts. Per my understanding it costs a hazard for each up or down shift. You can use shift results to discard these.

I bought gaslands immediately after watching this videos and it arrived in the mail today. My brother and I went strait out and bought some 99 cent matchbox cars, glued some guns on them and had an absolute blast. My favorite part of our first play through was when my brother blew up one of my armored cars with grenades and it flipped in a ball of flames and destroyed his machine gun buggy. Good times were had 👍.

First of all, I have so much to say about Gaslands at this point, that its hard to know where to start! 1: the moment "The Crafsman" mentioned this game, i looked it up and i was hooked! 2: i taught some of my close friends how to play and we had a blast, but unfortunately weren't able to finish the game. 3:I've created my own team (which cost 73 cans) and I called my team, team F.O.R.T.I. (which is latin for mighty) and finally, I just want to thank Mike Hutchinson for creating this masterpiece of a game.

Combining this with a skirmish game like Necromunda, Scrappers or This Is Not A Test should make for a perfect postapocalyptic campaign.

I just bought this game because of your video. I'm SOOO glad now that I bought the last two Dark Future blisters hanging on my FLGS' shelf way back in like 2005. I've got post apocalyptic drivers and gunners that have been sitting in my bits bag for thirteen years lol.

at 12:55 the rules specifically say once you've touched a move template you have to use it. No changing your mind or measuring allowed.

Picked this up recently too, Just a rules mention, if you touch a movement template you have to use it. Even if your'e on the same team and your team mate grabs the wrong one for you. XD

I love all of these mini agnostic games! I would rather find my own stuff and play an awesome game. This looks like a lot of fun.

Great work guys ... High Octane fun! Couple of pointers ... Each activation of a car is Move, Attack and Wipeout check. So Yeti moves, shoots and then checks for wipeout. You don't have to roll any dice if you don't want, you can take the automatic shifts or hazards and go with it. This game is great. Such a low entry cost and so much fun kit bashing cars into post-apocalyptic murder machines :)

Hello GMG. This looks like a really neat game. I used to play Car Wars, way back when it was a pocket boxed game and I had all the Uncle Al's books to go with it. This game seems simpler and easier to play, along with faster results. But, I feel there is one 'rule' that is needed. During the game, a vehicle smashed right through one of the containers. I feel that should have been at least one or more automatic down-shifts, one or more additional hazards, and a possible damage box added, due to ramming one's way through the metal sides of the container. Doing so would slow the vehicle as well as expose it to being 'clawed' by the sharp metal edges as it pressed through, and interfere with the drivers ability to handle the vehicle. But, that is just my 'take' on things. Perhaps there is something I don't know about the rules that dis-allows the above proposed rule change. Oh, fun personal fact in Re: Car Wars. Way, way back when playing with friends, I created a vehicle to somewhat replicate the Damnation Alley vehicle in Car Wars. It was basically two Semi Truck Rigs with permanately attached short trailers, attached rear to rear via a 'hinge' mechanism. I had to come up with a non-game breaking rule set for the triple tired motive system and it's 'motors'. And finally, I armed it with two twin-auto-cannons on top, a pair of heavy MG turrets on each side, Oil Slick and Mine Layer, forward pair of lasers, and a honking huge Ram Plate. My friends loved it. Both as a dangerous opponent, and as an ally against some of the biker and auto gangs we would run across ( our convoy of the Damnation Alley Armadillo and four light vehicles once was attacked by 24 bikes-trikes, and we survived). In any case, I am going to watch yet more of your videos and see more on how this is played before I even think of plopping down honking large amounts of cash. speaking, Frank-ly

Reminds me of a Fantasy Flight game from 2003 called Wreckage ... I had a lot of fun with that one, but this looks MUCH better !!! =D

One thing I'm noticing is that you don't seem to be taking Hazard tokens for using shifts to shift up. Going from 1 to 4 would net you 3 hazard tokens. :) Awesome play-through though.

This is awesome... i still have all my car wars stuff .. just ordered the bundle deal ..so now we wait ....my kids are already digging into the toy bins.- they are jazzed (they are 9,15) and we were thinking about a 16 man battle royal (mixing mad max, car wars ,gaslands for the win. Could even make a mini game for my shadow run game.

pretty sure you were using the slide template wrong too. When you slide during a turn, you end up on the opposite end of the slide template as the pointed notch. A couple times during the game, I saw you use the side of the slide template instead of the end which should only be used when sliding during a straight maneuver.

You should get an above table camera view to switch back and forth to.

Oh god this is second car game in a row where Owen's absurdly yolo driving skills makes his guys crash into obstacles and explode.

Fun video! At 32:50, you place your vehicle on the >side< of the slide template. I thought vehicles had to end up on the extreme end of the slide template. Have I been missing something?

Shouldn't the text on the maneuver template's name text be closest to the car when the card begins the maneuver?

I invented something like this but for racing only . Roll the dice and you can flick the car as many times as you want in any direction . Wrecking off road puts you at a loss per turn

Working on customizing the cars is fun. Check out the very recent Crafsman video on his techniques. A very fun smartly done video. But playing the game doesn't grab me at all.

This makes me want to see what my local Wally-World has for cheapie cars, and blow the dust off my old 40k bits box. Looks simple and fun.

When that car got way out ahead, why didn't the opponent take obne of his cars and intercept the leader. Shoot it. Crash into it. Whatever. The rules are you need to pass through the gates in order, not that you have to move towards a gate. Attack the leader and keep your other car going through gates. I DEMAND A REPLAY!!!!!!!!

Great video. This looks amazing, I'm definitely picking up some hot wheels next time I'm at the supermarket. As someone who has never been into 40k and so hasn't accumulated a suitable bits box, do you have any advice on a good source of guns and other bits?

It seems a bit weird that movement is measured from the front of the car to the back of the car.

Great video. I've watched it a few times to get a basic understanding of game. I'm a little confused about Wipeout phase. If you have 6 or more hazard tokens and roll equal to or higher than your current gear you succeed. You lose all hazard tokens and your gear changes back to gear 1 even though you take no damage. Is this correct. You may have done this but did not show on camera.

Hey man I love this game and your channel. I've got ? for you....does it cost extra or aren't their rules for "linking" weapons. Like "duel MGs" that fire at the same time. We have been doing 4 cans to link each pair of weapons as a house rule but just wondering if I maybe missed the rile somewhere or if there is a community agreed on rule.??

Game looks pretty cool and my old GW Dark Future cars and bikes should work perfect for the game. Quick question: It looks like the Osprey site just has the game rule book, would you need to go to the GasLands site to get the rules plus the templates and dice needed?

You guys should have an actual (mock up) of a 'HURSH GEAR SHIFTER' on the table so you can actually GEAR UP or DOWN whenever you change gears. Would really add flavour to the game ! 😎

Are their more rules for the starting pole position since this is a televised death race? Can you shoot at obstacles and destroy them so you don't crash into them? The game looks cool,want to play.

Steve Jackson’s Car Wars was my gateway drug into war gaming when it came out and Gaslands looks like a lighter faster game with all the fun but without the paperwork involved in CW so this game should be great!

Where did you get those shipping containers?

I read that there’s rules for scaling this up and down. I’m sort if enamored of LEGO cars right now which are 40% bigger on average. The downside of course is that the table would have to be that much bigger. Can you comment on that sort of thing? Also I get the impression once you build a model car you are stuck with whatever you built onto it but it doesn’t have to match that on paper right?

recently bought the gaslands refueled. had some terrain bought some terrain made some terrain. lots of hot wheels in the house. bought bunch more. even with watching you guys I'm still a little fuzzy in the head on this. Guess I need to watch this again or find a van that's a little more slow and painstaking in the explanations. You answered a question for me and that is your car is only doing one lap not multiple laps. I'm going to set up some kind of track today and see if I can figure out what's confusing me but then again I am old. Man cannot live by Hex & counter n miniature games. need other diversions.
