Who is Splattercat?
I'm a Let's Player gamer from Northern California who enjoys video games of all varieties. While I do game on the Xbox360 and Wii occasionally, most of the content that is featured on this channel will be new PC game releases and Indie PC Games.I publish videos daily so be sure to check in and see what's been going with me here at the Nerd Castle. My upload schedule typically includes one main series which is uploaded daily, followed by two minor series' which are alternated days. This means you get two videos a day with alternating content on alternating days. I enjoy Strategy games, RPGs of all varieties, and Sandbox games, so many times my content will reflect this in my game selections. If you're into humor, banter, or slightly off topic discussion while I play you'll probably find something to like here. What is Shadowrun : Dragonfall?
Shadowrun: Dragonfall is a new campaign expansion for Shadowrun Returns. This thrilling full-length campaign takes players to the city of Berlin and is packed with new features, characters, environments, weapons, cyberware, enemies, and other enhancements to the Shadowrun Returns experience. Shadowrun: Dragonfall will arrive on February 27th, 2014 for Windows, OSX, and Linux and will sell for $14.99. It's available for pre-order on Steam and a DRM-free version will be available on GOG.com.

Still one of my favorite series' of all time. I loved Shadowrun Returns and Space Hulk. They were both my first big break on KZfaq, and I had a blast with both to boot.

Thx. Of all the reviews written or"taped", yours finally sold me on this game. My buds back in HS and college liked Shadow-run. i was not a fan. But we ran Cyberpunk pen and paper at the time. Awesome.

Hey, small heads up on the moving out of cover issue, in case you hadn't figured out yet. Dietrich's knifes are considered a melee weapon despite the fact that he throws them. Thus, as it is with any melee weapon, when you attack he closes in on the enemy untill he can perform the attack. the only difference here is that he keeps a little distance instead of going toe to toe. love this series will continue watching after work.

:S Both the Banner Saga and this were new when he uploaded them, but both were also very much around in the media. I'd understand if you were talking about obscure games like, say, Harvester, but there's no way these two games have gone under your radar if you keep yourself at least somewhat up to date.

Yes!! I really enjoyed the last LP, it was my intro to shadowrun and I listened to it on my way to work, just glancing at the action but mainly enjoying the story and lore. I have since been back to the Megadrive (Genesis to you!) game and devoured about 6 of the novels and I'm now a big Shadowrun fan! I only heard about the new game today and so I'm very glad to see that you're already jacked-in. I thought that you might go for hard mode since the last one was a cake walk but then I guess that it messes with the recording if we have to watch you repeatedly being blown to bits! ;) Anyway great stuff and thanks for sharing Splattercat!

I always pick physical adept in the trilogy due to how fast they could kill the opponent, sometimes I'd go for mages or shamans since they have the best kit (mind control and petrify)

trolls? not half breeds? These trolls are depicted as human-like, trolls and orcs full bread have no humanity. the portraits aren't the only thing. The dialogue especially in the part of Eiger she doesn't act like a troll she acts like a half-troll she looks like a half troll orcs and trolls are monsters. And that is what makes them cool ya gotta leave em that way!

Oh, and riggers go all the way back to SR1, 'Cat. Might have showed up in one of the supplements, but I think it was even in the core book. They used to be more vehicle and a bit less drone oriented, though.

Little coretcion: You can't be mage rigger cuz mages can't have implants in order to use magic. If you take an head impland (needed for hacking/rigging) you no mage son!

You just have to balance the essence offset from how I remember. Datajacks etc. were relatively cheap essence wise back in the day.

Avoan Black The very easy way to explain it is in the tabletop game a full cyberlimb costs 1 Essence.. Your Essence value was 6 and you Magic value equaled your Essence value. So if you got two metal limbs lowering your Essence to 4, your max Magic would be 4, meaning the highest Force rating spells you could cast would be 4.

I didn't know that you could LARP shadowrun. That's pretty badass. There's a LARP group at a park near my house every sunday, I watch them game while I jog. I too enjoy DM'ing SR. So much more fun than DM'ing D&D imo.

ok i really loved this game its story is what really really did it for me, it felt like ghost in the shell stand alone complex kinda stuff this new story is an improvement compared to the dead mans switch altho i liked both stories this one interacted more with the player, this game is very very good but its still missing some balance a couple of annoying bugs and the most important thing that made shadowrun what it was.... and open world this game is les linear but its still a one path story not as much as dead masn switch but its still there overall i give this game 8.4

Splattercat I got a question about series shadowrun(both tabletop and videogame versions)I'm new to series and only played the genesis shadowrun and shadowrun returns so I have little knowledge to the series. So when I was ask by a friend that liked the games, but is disappointed in the fact that his character can't wear power armor. In shadowrun enemies wear it so he kinda thinks the creators didn't allow characters to wear power armor because they didn't bother or hate power armor normally I don't care about if power armor is in a game or not, but this is really swirling in my head so if you can help answer this question splattercat or any youtuber i'll have some closure. p.s. I loved your shadowrun returns playthrough I hope you do the genesis version someday.

I'm actually trying to keep it fresh for you guys. I've avoided playing very far so you can catch my reactions to situations. From what I've read it's around 18 hours long if you're a completionist, and it's a bit more "open" than the previous game. You can pick your missions etc. Gives it a Mechwarrior Mercenaries feel vs just plain Mechwarrior.

Messiah I'm a bit late sorry :P Personally I would definately recommend picking this up. You should know however that the Dragonfall campaign is *WAY* better than the original campaign. As such, the dragonfall DLC was turned into a standalone game Called Shadowrun Dragonfall- Director's cut. It has faster animations, a new armour system, and a bunch of great features including an overhaul of combat. I would definately recommend picking it up on stea,. The only problem is that the original Shadowrun campaign (A Dead Man's Switch) does not come with it. With some light tweaks though you can play DMS in the directors cut, you just need the original Shadowrun Returns Hope this was helpful :)

There is no actual "level" here in Shadowrun. Karma is what you need to upgrade your character.

You've never seen Academic etiquette not be useful? Its the epitome of useless in Dead Man's Switch. You get to use it once near the end of the game to reveal information that you would be told 30 seconds later anyway.

Dickbeard the Merciless Just finished my own playthrough of Dragonfall, Academic is useless once again. You can use it to try to talk down Vauclair at the end but its not necessary as long as you've watched the DVDs along with an INT 5 skill check.

I really wouldn't say shitty graphics, it's quite acceptable and really in the higher end for this genre.. but eh sorry if it chokes you completely, it is a pretty amusing game though I think personally, but as with most other things, it's not for everyone and there's no shame in that.

Molly Friedrich I agree very much with your notion about the graphics. It actually looks very good for an isometric game in 2D. I've worked with top-down isometric games (albeit not on a professional level) and they tend to end up looking a lot worse for wear than this. As for the budget, I think Harebrained Schemes didn't have anything to do with the previous Shadowrun games. Shadowrun Returns was also a huge crowdfunding success. They managed to get together almost 2 million $ through pledges. And the story was more than "ok". The writing was excellent and, really, one of the things that kept drawing me back to the game throughout the campaign. It makes other "RPGs" such as Mass Effect, Dragon Age or Skyrim look like they were written by emo teenagers with no literary talent.

I don`t get what the hype is about with this game. I have tried playing it three times, just because people keep saying it`s good, and every time I get past the first couple of fights before I`m seriously annoyed with everything and uninstall the game again. Interface blows, combat is too simplistic, the game skips character`s round inexplicably, the animation is trash, sound effects trash. Just everything is trash and the game play sucks ass.

You can't test it for an hour or two and claim you don't like it because you haven't really played it, it's the type of game that rewards you for effort. If you're ready for that kind of experience (it's been 2 years, you might have developed better taste), I'd really recommend going into it with an open mind this time. It's a well designed game given its circumstances and it deserves more recognition than it gets. If not, I suggest you stick to more casual AAA titles.
