That tone is so reminiscent of my childhood. My mother played an old upright (taller than she is) at the old Pentecostal singings. That is the identical tone she had (after having it tuned old-style with a tuning fork). I can even hear the ambient tones of the wooden-walled sanctuary in the samples you used. Then you swapped samples, and began ragtime playing of what I think was "The Entertainer??".... and I went back in my mind to the music store where mom worked. The salesman played it (and Alley Cat Scat) for every customer. Ive got an old Casio px100 with sloppily weighted keys, but at least it has midi in/out. I need this! Thanks for the memories.

Nails that Bruce Hornsby pop sound - I imagine he recorded with a well worn grand if not an upright. Well done Sir!

Yes, most of the time I see Bruce at a grand piano, he has some very nice chops indeed. Thanks so much for watching and the kind support. Joyfully!🎹

Looking at some of the videos it seems that Bruce is usually playing a Steinway which surprised me as typically Steinways have a slightly darker sound, although I have played some that were on the brighter side. There also seems to be some additional processing and layering to bring his iconic sound together. These are times to have been a fly on the wall in the studio while they were recording this ;^)

Great playing as always♥️ i think i need the "Synchron Steinway B, Stage B" so badly... And of course Yamaha C7 stage b😁 do you think it's possible?
@NatureSleepSerenity5 ай бұрын
I second a steinway B on stage B! A Local college with a good music program has their performing arts building open to the public, and one performance hall has a Steinway B in it. Just playing that thing is an other worldly experience. You can play the softest dynamics to the loudest roars with seemingly no effort, The sound and feel of that piano is like nothing I've experienced in my life.

Simeon, do you happen to use an M1 Mac in your productions? I can't think of anyone better who could tax the new(ish) m1 chip better than you, with all of your sample libraries. I'm curious if you do have one, how well it performs?

Hello Bret, well I am on a Windows PC and have been since the beginning. I just built my current system at the beginning of 2020 and it has been holding its own. The new M1 and now M2 chips seem to be real game changers from what I am hearing. You never know what might be waiting down the road. Thanks so much for watching and for your kind support of the channel. Joyfully!🎹

@@PraiseTracks Good to hear. Thanks for the reply! Honestly, I just throw your videos up while I work just to listen to you play. Your playing is heart-wrenching... beautiful. 🥺

@@BretSnyderMusic Bret, I have an M1 Pro chip, 16 GB ram, 10 Cores and I play the VSL Bluthner. It works pretty well running through Rosetta 2. It can run all mic positions at once but will have some minor pops here and there because all those mics and voices combined, playing simultaneously. If VSL would make the Synchron player native for Mac, I think there wouldn’t be popping at all. I usually play with 6 mics on at once and it works well. I love the full library with the ribbon mic and a bit of the surround and alternate mid mics. Hope this helps.

This or the Bosendorfer Upright?
@PraiseTracks7 ай бұрын
Derik, man that’s a hard one. The Bösendorfer sounds much bigger than you might think possibly due to its size, almost like a grand turned on its end. The Bechstein has its signature sound that is really pleasant. I need to pull these two up and possibly do a side by side. Thanks so much for watching and I apologize for my delay in responding. Joyfully yours!

@@PraiseTracks Hello and thank you for this blessing of a video! I would so thoroughly enjoy your comparison of these 2 uprights, I'm having a hard time deciding myself!
