most people SAND the sides of the GRIP so that the grip doesn't get easily peeled on the sides or come up on its own. I've tried it both ways and the GRIP always stays better if you sand it. a lil goes along way

Yeah that’s what I always figured and I had peeled or ripped grip. Thanks for the info. I normally grab the trucks and grind down the edge on pavement during the first session, so that’s basically doing the same thing.

@@100funsummers exactly same purpose. Basically different way to go about it. But you’re so right not everyone does it. I didn’t used to, but I do now.

@@100funsummers rad ! 🔥🤙🏼 I’m all about a 14 inch wheel base! skating a sea rat right now 14 inch WB - 8.75 in the middle 8.5 over the trucks shovel shape also trying out the 93a spitfires like em so far

@@likeSK8 sick! That shape sounds really fun I may have to give that board a shot in the future, 14WB for me has been tricky in the past but I am feeling right at home on this one. The 93 Spitfires are so good, I am probably going to stick with them for a while. Although will probably come up with some excuse to try out the radials as well. Board madness gets pricy though. How do you feel about flipping the shovel shape?

I'm skating almost the exact same deck PRETTY MUCH, its flat with almost same shape and dimensions, but its a deadstock "ENJOI" i had in my collection from like 2021. now i got to get this REAL board to see if it will suffice, wish it had R1 construction tho. my enjoi is 8.5 x 14.25WB x 32.1 Length mellow concave "pretty flat", rounded nose and tail, steep kicks, 6.5 in tail. and it has Impact Technology in it. Man I love this board. lol Riding 5.8 Venture high standards with "Venture loose" bushings set.

I have a old enjoi in my collection, one of the Bag of Suck runs. I’ll probably just hold onto it since I love that video and it’s my hometown.

Appreciate your vids man! Always loved watching guys talk spec on their set-ups. I don't ride much these days but I still have a burning interest that will never fade. Great to see guys like you making vids and still shredding.

Awesome, stoked you are into them! Yeah I’m the same, I could listen to people talk about their boards all day. Skateboarding seems unique in that way like it always tends to just stick right there in the back of your head, no matter if you are doing it or not. It’s always there when we need it! I checked out some of your drawings on instagram, rad stuff! At one point my dream was to be a cartoonist, Bill Waterson was one of my first Hero’s I ever had.

@@100funsummers For sure! It really is there whenever we need it and nobody can ever take that away! Thanks for checking out my stuff, I draw as a hobby and just love to share with others. Calvin and Hobbs is a great comic and Bill had such a cool style. I dig Peanuts, Snoopy was always my favorite. I style my drawings after the late great Ed Roth. Do you still draw? I'd love to see some of your work. Also thanks for responding!

I just doodle a bit here and there, I drew my logo on here, mostly little characters like that. If I can find some I’ll send them your way! Gary Larson was always a big influence on my drawing as well. I’ll check out Ed Roth’s stuff.

@@100funsummers Cool! Your logo is fun and inviting. I look forward to seeing some of your doodles. Another great cartoonist, I'll have to check out more of Gary's work. Ed Roth is the lowbrow monster stuff that I truly love. Hope you dig him too.

Ventures are a great truck for technical skating. all I want to skate in the streets/ But I do get flow from INDEPENDENT sometimes, so Of course I love INDY, best Brand Manager "Gavin". But those venture 5.8a 8.5 width standard trucks with the loose venture bushings omg, game changer for ledge skating, rails, manuals, street gaps, for me at least. I ride Ventures in the street I ride Indy's for everything else.

I rode Indy’s for about 25 years and moved onto Ace, I’ll probably stay on Aces for slaps and stick with the ventures for everything else for now. I love Indy’s but for me Aces just turn a bit more and the metal feels really good.

@@100funsummers I bought the ACE af1s but I’ve not really tried them out, I set up up on a hybrid street cruiser set up of mine because I liked the surfy turning. I’ll give em a real try tho, because you said you like em so much.
@100funsummers

Oh rad, give them a shot you may be into them. The metal seems a bit softer than Indy’s which I like for slappies but they grind down a bit faster though because of that.

I’m out in Palm Springs now, it’s ok so far. I have a lot of family here so it’s great to be close by but I love living in big cities, maybe one day I’ll go back. It gets hot so I’ll be traveling a lot this summer, the upside is the cost of living is a bit lower out here, rent isn’t as high. So far I really like this board, I’m going to have an update on it next week sometime after I’ve been able to skate it a bit more.

I feel you on the weight gain, especially when you have a lot going on in life between work, family, etc. I am on a mission to drop what have gained over the last year myself. Also, I am riding Slappy Trucks right now and I like them a lot but have always been curious about Ventures though. Looking forward to seeing how you feel about them after riding them for a bit.

Yeah life is tough some time for sure and the first thing I always sacrifice is a good eating routine, I guess we all have our struggles right? Jump rope and skating is my usual remedy but I may have to more serious. I’m way interested in slappy trucks but have not been able to get a set in the wild. How do you like their turn? The ventures so far have been good, I’ll for sure have an update in the future.

@@100funsummers I really like the slappy trucks, they turn great, it was a little strange as I broke them in since I heard you are not supposed to adjust the tightness at all. They felt odd at first but they really did adjust to my carving style.

I’m always into the pinch on trucks since crooked grinds are my favorite grind. I’ve seen that the pinch in the slappys looks good, so I’ll give them a shot next. Most the time I leave trucks on their stock tightness and it seems to be just right for me, after using them for a bit tightening them up won’t hurt, it’s just the initial few sessions to help break in the bushings.

I was able to get through the last coliseum after upgrading the nail all the way and turning the fragile charms to unbreakable charms. It was tough and took like 2 or 3 weeks to learn the patterns. I’m currently trying to figure out what to play next.

When i sand the edge of the griptape is because sometime it lift and get dirt between the griptape and the deck and then the grip don't stick anymore

Good to know, I figured it was something along those lines, I typically just grind the edge down holding the trucks on the first session.
