I wanted to sew up an easy dress with some extra features. I love the easy to wear comfort of the Emmeline Dress and I also love the details in the waist darts and the way the skirt flows away from the body. have you tried this pattern yet!?

Loved the clear elastic for gathering the skirt, fantastic tip. I really dislike gathering so I will be doing this from now. The dress looks fabulous x

I liked that too! I've tried gathering knits, but then they don't have the stretch unless you "break" the gathering thread...This is a great solution.

Great tutorial. Do you every put a stabilizer in the shoulder seam so it doesn't stretch out? I use the Sewkeys woven stay tape for anyplace that needs stabilizing. I used to use twill tape, but several years ago I switched to this iron on stay tape. Love it!

yes I do, I like to use it when I'm making longer dresses or when I'm using a fabric that is heavier and will pull the dress down.

Thanks for all of your videos! 💙 The fabric that I want to use for this dress is a little see through. Do you see any issues in making a second bodice as a lining and doing it that way and skip the neck/arm bands?

Are you bo longer with E&M? Or are you with both? Youre such a big reason I ourchase the patterns I do! Your tutorials have taught me so much (im self taught on all things I make ) and your tutorials are so easy to follow! I dont have fB to know where you are these days. I can’t for the life of me gather with elastic I’m so bummed. What are the machine settings and pressure foot tension? When I hit the foot pedal the fabric just stays in one place and doesn’t move forward

Umm you may need a new needled. It also depends on the elastic you are using. I like to use more of a light soft and stretch clear elastic. Some can be really thick. I usually try lengthening my zigzag stitch first
