I recently saw a bunch of people in the comments section of a video basically saying a dude should be disarmed or shouldn't be able to purchase a gun. It was a customer service guy flipping out over a maga hat and shirt. Guy was throwing a fit, perhaps the commenters were right that he was unhinged, maybe not trustworthy with a gun. But the fact that they thought he shouldn't be allowed to have the same 2nd amendment rights as everyone else was pretty weird. Don't tread on me unless we have different opinions I guess? I was basically like YEAH because there are no unhinged maga people with guns right? And then it was how I shouldn't own a gun, being a former infantryman in the woods where we hunt. I'm safe, I don't threaten people, but it seems the only ones trying to tread on MY rights are the ones waving the most flags, which I don't own a single one haha.

When I was younger I thought about being a park ranger and had some frank talks with a couple of them in major parks. I was told you need to be totally dedicated to the park and have exceptional people skills. in the larger parks they face abuse from visitors on a daily basis, from self-entitled visitors who think the rules are stupid and don't apply to them, to nasty drunks. Visitors had even yelled at this ranger on more than one occasion, blaming her for the bad weather. It's not said often enough - to all the park rangers across the US: Thank you for your service!

@patpierce4854 exactly. And the benefits of acting on the input from all ranks. An upgrade discovered in the southern region is used by the eastern troops the next week. Amazing flexibility. Ukraine is having its growing pains as a new democracy while simultaneously fighting for it's life, and the future of Europe against a totalitarian dictatorship with access to vast quantities of manpower, equipment, and nuclear weapons. It seems history is repeating a line in its song. Out gunned, outnumbered, an unconditional force adapts to the larger forces' tactics, which are based on the previous century's lessons on warfare. The smaller force fights on home ground, a powerful but unstable democracy aiding the smaller force The reflection is amazing. My best friends dad was a park ranger, he was also a lieutenant in vietnam. That rings true theoughout park rangers. A lot of military folks look to them for employment. The biggest man i have ever met was an ex marine nicknamed tiny, he liked being a ranger because his ptsd attacks were very extreme and fireworks and shooting are illegals in the park he worked in.

This reminds me of an old FBI report I read on gun violence statistics and it turned out that there were more cases of people stopping an active shooter situation unarmed than armed. It wasn't that the unarmed people had some special advantage(other than not being an obvious threat can sometimes make verbal deescalation more possible), it was more that being in the right place at the right time and getting a tactical advantage over the gunman was the most important thing(that and most people are simply not armed most of the time). Translated back to reality, there is a small army of store clerks, math and P.E. teachers who have saved countless lives just by being in the right place and deciding on the correct way to act.

Continuously putting certain stories in news feeds that should really just be local news is in my opinion adding fuel to the fire. If someone has a problem and the media is continuing to give them ideas at some point they may act on those examples. Fixing societies problems needs to be done at every level just like voting needs to be in every election.

I _hated_ Bush 1 [i _really_ hsted Bush 2]-- but if Bush 1's wife had run, i probably would've voted for her. Partly because her attitude of "service" was such a contrast to Queen Nancy's idea of being royalty. But where the contrast really shone, was the projects they chose as First Lady. Queen Nancy's arrogance is showcased by her whole "Just Say 'No.'" bull. But Barbara Bush chose *_Literacy_* as her project. She said it was because she thought most problems could be solved with the right information, but you had to be able to _access_ the information for it to help & being able to read was a step towards that. I thought it was brilliant. And i think she was right. i was in my 20s when she said it. I'd been reading since i was three and i knew how much reading -- & words in general -- meant to me, but _that_ put a different focus on it for me. There's a lot of my life & beliefs that have evolved from that opinion of hers. [Another reason i liked Mrs Bush was her humor. In an interview while she was the Second Lady, she was asked about her relationship with Queen Nancy and her answer was, _"Fine! Fine. We have so much in common, you know. She's a size two and so's my right leg!"_ And she _laughed._ Don't remember what the interviewer's reaction was...]

I was a medic in the Army. Our final exercise was field first aid. We were given an amount of supplies and had to bring in six casualties. We were not given enough supplies. The exercise was to see how we would react and treat the casualties with limited supplies. Two guys had a casualty that was having a mock psychotic episode. Instead of using their supplies of morphine (mock) they took two litters and tied them together, one under and one on top.
