If GW decides to make female marines because some blue-haired SJW complained about a hobby she has no interest in, me and my friends who play will just 3d print the figures and pirate the rules, or maybe just use 9th edition rules

KZfaq algo threw up at me a video of One Mind Syndicate, that piece of filth is pumping out literal made up fanfic stories about femstodes to try to create "lore video" that will be ingested by newbies. That was the quickest block I ever did.

40k have plenty of strong female characters. Shira Calpurina high rank officer of Adeptus Arbities, she dealt with rouge traders feuds, uprisings in hives and Astra Telepatica/Black ship deals. Charming, straightforward and cool af. If they want power armour why not Sisters of Battle?

The “new” necron lore wasn’t even a retcon as it mostly just added more fluff to the skele bois that only added to their depth. It didn’t make additions that damage what’s already pre-established about the necrons (which wasn’t much to begin with) much less the rest of 40k’s lore.

@TheSerpentsLodge My headcanon would be the Emperor always knew how to do it but simply chose to only make males Custodes. Fast forward to millennium 42 it is decided by the Custodians themselves that in these dark days all candidates will be accepted to boost Custodian numbers.

We would have largely been happy if they used this as a pretext for expanding on the Sisters of Silence. We have a reason for Femstodes to exist (Sisters of Silence keep a LOT of secrets, one of them can be a Custodes working in silence for 10K years.), there's a great avenue to expand on a faction people want expansions on, and yet GW didn't do that... "Why did this need to change?" is a question we should be asking more. We are too comfortable asking what the harm is that we've forgotten whether something does actual good is important.

@@TheSerpentsLodge Comes with the territory. I'm helping a guy world-build literally everything for his tabletop stuff. I made robotic kobolds in a fantasy setting legit work. It was built out of a one-man-show session and my party managed to scam Asmodeus himself. Now he is perpetually tormented by kobolds whose souls can't be claimed by anyone and are doomed to keep waking up and remembering that fact even through universal resets, always in the new, robotic bodies Asmodeus himself forged for them. Kobolds are officially his universe's 4chan, capable of both great malice and great good, and we broke the alignment scale entirely by the end. Chaotically lawful evilly good creatures who roped Asmodeus into saving the world and cleaning house in the service of good. And then the party became gods and we have the image of *Satan himself* needing to take a bunch of kobold kids to Little League once every universe and being utterly incapable of doing any malice whatsoever while doing so because in a way he's kinda their daddy and they love him very much, all to Asmodeus's immortal, omnipotent chagrin. Especially because they keep making *more* of themselves over time and all of them know about that one time Asmodeus did something heaven grade good and have a religious obligation never to have him forget it. All of this works in the lore we made, to the point I even homebrewed racial setups for them incorporating all of this... and this is before we get into the part about us making Kobold Vegas, logically getting notoriously slave-happy Duergar to give up the practice, and everything involving Big Gustav the railway cannon. Because when you're being targeted by an archdevil aspiring to godhood, you tend to get a little bit paranoid and caring not for who so long as they can help the war effort. I'm less offended that this was done, and more offended at the gaslighting and just how lazy this all is. Look at that up there. That was work and I'm dang proud of that! Games Workshop just doesn't have this kind of pride for their work anymore. It's why I'm telling people to go get One Page Rules and convert your army sheets over. Freeze out Games Workshop, not WarHammer 40K. Not only is it proper punishment for GW, OPR is a lot friggin' cheaper.

At the end of the day, i do not mind the lore shift and in the long run it will not change the Custodes or who they are; unlike if this was done with the Space Marines, who have several lore passages as to why it be anyone but a male for the procedure. However, what i do mind is the manner and the attitude in which Games Workshop had as they did it. If they gave us a story as to why the Custodes accepted the first female child, build up the noble house that they came from. No sons in the family but their daughters were in ranking officers in the guard, etc.. and though they had no sons, they knew their newest daughter would be strong enough to go through the procedure; And so they made special dispensations depending on the quality of the noble house. Y'know.. something. Because in a lot of story telling, its not "what happens" its "how it happens". GW has always done the "how" very horribly and heavy handedly though.

@@zachcarnes6757 yes it is that much of a deal, not because of any lore but because this has happened to appease the ideologues that own a lrage portion of GW this phenomanon across all media happens because large multinational corporational and wealth management firms use their financial power and influence to force stuff like this into popular media expressly to change society to what they would like it to be so it really does not matter about whatver lore they throw out to justify it, ultinmately this is warhammer going the same way as star wars, star trek, doctor who and essentially all other entertainment media

If it was a set up for the lore, there would be an actual set up for the lore, not some Tzeentch shit where it was always the case and always the plan. In terms of writing sins, there's at least two here, dropping that bombshell and then gaslighting us. Stop writing the lore for GW when trying to defend them. That's the issue. "Why did this need to change?" You fundamentally can't answer this, GW has proven they shouldn't be trusted beyond what we can see out of them time after time, and it's fundamentally a fact that we don't have a reason and don't have a model for a femstodes either. We don't need to wait to see lore. The fact we are here already is the issue. GW has made this issue, GW can lie in their bed.

I agree that there shouldn't be female custodians but I think the reason you all have for it lacks comprehension of Warhammer as a piece of writing, Warhammer has always been at least slightly political in nature and has always explored the rotting and stagnating effect fascism has on society (that is a major theme of the imperium as a faction), going off of that, the emperor himself is a sexist and when he was advised that he should make some of the primarchs female to better represent all of humanity, the emperor declined and gave gender essentialist reasons as to why they should all be male and THATS why there shouldn't be female custodians, making some of the emperor's most closely held and favoured guardians female would dampen the fascistic nature of the imperium and make the critique it presents less potent.
