The kicker for me is how someone mentioned that a deceased person _doesn't have to_ donate organs if they weren't an organ donor - no matter how many lives it could save. Except we really haven't. Not even close. Black Americans have barely been treated as fully legal human beings for ~60 years, women weren't allowed their own credit cards until 1974, or a say in their own bodies until Roe, LGBTQ+ people weren't legally taken seriously until the last couple decades, and on and on. We've sure had some great mythology about freedoms, don't get me wrong, but it hasn't even true across the board for ~3 decades yet. And one wrong step come November, it's all gone in a flash. Countless decades of incredibly hard work, unfathomable amounts of blood spilled and lives lost, for absolutely nothing but less than a handful of decades of real freedom in total. That's what makes so many people not taking this seriously enough infuriates wo many of us. A whole lot of people swore "it couldn't really happen here", when it literally was happening here almost the entire time. We've had ~3 decades of anything even resembling real equity and equality in our entire history, and we're one vote away from seeing it all potentially disappear. It's absolutely disgusting IMO.
