What's Up, Collectors! Instead of coving the new releases on tonight's livestream, I thought I'd open it up to general Q&A about all things Criterion. We're in the midst of the 50% off Criterion Sale at Barnes & Noble stores, so I'm in the mood to talk Criterion. Hopefully you are too! There weren't many new releases to cover this week anyway. So this should be more fun!

Zazie is great and after the film was released Chaplin sent Louis Malle a letter praising it which shows just how good the gags were. Anatomy of a Murder is excellent,especially as you like Anatomy of a Fall as they have so much in common,even the same running length and they both have a dog which plays an important part.

I try to buy 2 Criterion titles at the beginning of the sale and 2 on the last day. Only got 1 so far, 4K Peeping Tom. Holding out for 4Ks of Le Samouraï, Farewell My Concubine, and Risky Business!

You should check out Fellini! Watch "Nights of Cabiria" - won best foreign language film Oscar and Giulietta Messina gives a beautiful performance. One of my favorite films.

Aw man. I missed this one live. July is like Christmas for movie nerds lol. Happy to be with fellow cinema lovers. I’m excited to pick up Perfect Days. I haven’t seen it yet but I’m very interested. Maybe the three color trilogy. I haven’t seen that either haha but I feel like that’s what criterion is about, trying new things

Recently found the Criterion release of Chasing Amy. With the Barnes and Noble sale, I could see myself picking up the 4k of Le Samouraï.

@@FilmsByColor French/Italian production neo-noir focused on and around a hit man. It felt the ideal version of what Fincher was doing with The Killer last year. It's quite possible you'd enjoy the film. Alain Delon is quite excellent.

Since Rohmer "may be" your favorite director, (and you didn't mention whether you've seen it), I highly recommend "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend " for you AND Grace. It may very well be Rohmer's best summer film (I think so, anyway).

@@FilmsByColor oh man, such an amazing film. it’s an incredibly eerie slow burn southern gothic fairytale. a perfect movie to throw on after dark, on a late summer night. the plot is soooomewhat similar to “the night of the hunter” but i much prefer “to sleep with anger”. i’d explain more, but it’s so much better going in blind haha. if you can find a copy while you’re out, i cannot recommend it enough.

We got the Arrow 4k of The Last Emporer in the UK it looks great, and welcome to the dollhouse is a Radiance title. I’ve got the Pierre Etaix I also love Tati. Disney own The French Dispatch so that one’s tricky to go to Criterion and no 4k of Isle of Dogs yet it’s fox searchlight. imprint brought out bluray of Jacobs Ladder.
