I love the Highlands series as well. Very very nicely done and they look so good. The toad sticker is hilarious and a pokey stabby for sure. Thanks so much for sharing these. Cool little knives

The buckshot treatment is pretty cool. I'm a fan of the classic carbon line but paying double for reserve is totally worth it.

Some great Rough Ryder's there JB. I like that badge shield on the Highland. For a lockback, a low pull number is okay, because spring tension is not what locks it in place. At least that's the way I look at it. Toad stickers are great fun. Well, toads don't like them 🐸. It could really use some kind of lock if you go to do any actual stabbing. I have determined the thumbstud on the assisted opening Trapper is just a torture device for your thumb, because you will try to use it, and your thumb will hate you for that.

Agreed....as long as the lock up is solid, that's what is important! Yeah....I would do much actual toad sticking unless it had some sort of lock on it!! LOL...torture device is a good explanation. You want to use it but just not gonna happen!!!

Very cool RR's definatly one for every occasion lol. For the price and quality they are definatly a great buy., not big on assisted or autos but that's just personal preference. Thanks for the look see JB and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

You know I love RR knives. My favorite of the three is the toad sticker. I need one because I don’t have a buckshot bone knife and it looks perfect for picking up cubes of cheese!

I cant Believe I missed this R.R. Assist Trapper. I would have ordered it with my last order, but it is listed only as "Trapper red smooth bone" on Chicago K.W. I even searched Spring assist. MAN, Disappointment ensues. I did order the W. Smooth bone Toad sticker, from SMKW, and Buck Shot Bone Sowbelly Trapper and Two trapper liner lock's from Chicago K.W. . Great Video

I have a AO trapper in white it is an interesting pocket knife. the flipper really jumps out fast. Kind of a modern take on the traditional trapper.

Oh boy, Big Red is doing RRs! The highland is a handsome knife, tho I don’t care for those razor blades. A spear point would have been awesome! I think locking blades are supposed to have lighter pulls, no? I could be wrong. The toad sticker is a goofy pattern. I kinda like goofy. The covers and tiny shield are pretty cool. I have one of the flipper trappers. I’ve got it disassembled, going to delete the spey blade…hope to get it back together someday….it’s a novelty knife, don’t know what I was thinking when I bought it. I like the toad sticker best - there must be lots of occasions when that skinny blade would be handy. Thanks, JB!

Ive had lock backs with various pull tension! It's not as important on a lock back knife! The Toad sticker is a little goofy and that's what makes it fun for sure Su! Oh cool! Will be interesting to see how it looks after you take out the spey blade!

for a budget brand, RR has some decent offerings. I get really frustrated when they call knives "razors" when they do not open past 90 degrees. for many years I used a straight razor, and you open it to about 120-130 degrees to have a proper grip and control to shave. I have dry shaved with a straight razor while driving a pickup down the highway before ( yeah.. good choices come from wisdom which comes from bad choices) and a 90 degree hold would not have been good for shaving at all. that toad sticker is a bit skinny for me, I used to make a wooden gig when I went froggin'. you want to see what a HUGE rough rider looks like try the Rough Ryder Giant Wharncliffe, I have a tan one, and it is a handful. of those three, i would really have to pick the trapper. seems odd to have a flipper traditional.. but I like it.

Why is it, that almost all Rough Rider models seem to appear to be Re-Worked "Broken" or otherwise screwed up models. Like some Marketroid said 'Hey! I have a great idea as to how we can sell all these 2nds and otherwise broken and returned garbage to the modern flipper kiddies!'...

@@BigRedEDC Please don't misunderstand! I'm not saying that they ARE 2nd's. I'm saying that the blades just seem to LOOK like they were reworked FROM 2nd's. Like the Slew of Cleaver types - Do we really need MINI-Cleavers? Or are Mini-Cleavers just made from Broken off regular blades? Honestly, I don't know! I'm just guessing here. I actually think it's probably a great idea! Like it was said 3000 years ago - There is nothing new under the sun...

Thanks for the share BigRedJB. The Highlander is my favorite of the lot but the buckshot "sticker" is just a great conversation piece. The fit/finish on the red flipper, however, (even for slightly carried) was not good ...Pass. 😑
