2 months left for me!!! Not happy being in the Air Force anymore. It’s time for me to do something new and enjoy life. 6 years is enough for me. Going back to my HBCU in a few months!!! 💯

Joined the Army National Guard for six years. I deployed to Iraq for a year. I left the military with a 100 percent permanent and total rating. Not bad. Now I work in the federal government as a GS 13. I am set for life.

I was never as upset for not being selected for reenlistment. I received the standard Honorable Discharge and walked towards the door. My parents were moving across the country, and I didn't want to live off of them. I was on the verge of homelessness. With hard work, and lots of luck...I've done very well and have a net value of $2 million. You are only limited by your efforts and imagination. Good luck.

I'm army aviation mechanic, I picked that job on a whim without any mechanical knowledge lol, I HATED it so much at first but then loved it. Now I hate being a SGT because I'd rather do the work than delegate, but oh well, maybe I'll get used to it. But at the moment I WANT OUT lol

How are you holding up now in the civilian world? Also, have you adjusted to working with civilians? I’m just genuinely curious as I am getting out of the Military soon. Thank you for your honesty. I can relate to a lot of the things you’ve mentioned.

It was challenging at first but now I’m used to it. It took me a few months to get readjusted to civilian life and most definitely working with civilians but now it’s not so bad. I’ll always miss my military folks though lol

Yo go for it bro. Ita still worth it be it 4, 6, 8, 10, 15 or more. Did my four in Montana, deployed twice, meet friends that became family.

ayyyyye I'm E/E and was on the buffs at Barksdale over at the 20th AMU! I'm c-130s now in Japan! people couldn't believe I got orders out of Barkatraz after only a year on station lol.

She'll adjust fine to civilian life because Airmen are essentially civilians in uniform anyway. THAT is why the Air Force is so popular, and that is why it's the hardest to qualify for and is always overstaffed; that is why its recruiters are rarely available; job stability doesn't exist. If your job is to support something that the Air Force has eliminated, then you're given your 30-day notice. I met a few ex-airman when I was in the Army. The Air Force is like two things: The post office (civilians in uniform) with aircraft. 2. IBM, with its personnel management style of always striving to improve itself by reducing its staff. Hope this provides you with a proper understanding and perspective on the whole thing.

Slow down. Take a deep breath. Lol Sounds like you didn’t speak to a counselor and or really didn’t inquire about the different jobs available. Did you think of Security Forces or Admin?
