HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture. In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellwolder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.

Humans Are Space Orcs (HASO) or Humans Are (Fantasy Race) Are used as a guide when writing.
In these Stories we normally View humans like the other races view orcs in a Fantasy Novel. We (Humans) share the same characteristics and personalities as orcs. Humans are normally treated as the outsiders and barbarians. Humans tend to be underestimated as well in these stories. Unlike Humanity Feck Yea , these don't always put a positive spin on humans\humanity sometimes looking at the darker side of human and humanity from the perspective of aliens.

In the first story when they said the humans weren't there yet I was waiting for them to decloak an entire armada and instantly destroy the whole enemy fleet. What I got instead was possibly even better.

Honestly, this whole ‘Humans are space Orcs’ concept reminds me of the first contact war from Mass Effect. Humanity made first contact with the Turians, who represented the backbone of the Citadel’s military, and war broke out because the Humans were activating dormant mass relays and opening new hyperspace routes. Since this sort of behaviour was what resulted in the Rachni invasion, subsequently followed by the Krogan rebellions, the Turians panicked and attacked rather than simply explain what the issue was. When the Turians invaded and occupied a human colony, we responded with a big-ass fleet that sent them packing and caused the Asari to step in and organise a peace treaty. Even decades after this war ended, many Turians respected and admired Humans for being such colossal badasses.

@@Mark-xh8mdThe Turian Primarch was frothing at the mouth. The Asari didn't want a galactic war to start over a hot-headed Admiral Shooting first and Asking questions later. I do want to point out that the fleet the humans sent against the Turians was literally everything we had. Where as the Turian fleet was one Anti-Piracy fleet patrolling some systems. They had many more ships to spare.

On of my favorite short stories is the one where the alien group has finally wiped out Humanities 2 worlds. It took them a long time, but they finally did it with huge losses. Then they go over the last messages that the humans had sent and received, and it describes how the relief fleets are on the way from another galaxy (I think it was 10 or more fleets) There are more fleets coming than the aliens have in total.

I had no idea. We were only taught about their economy, their trade prowess. I had no clue about their...war history.” The wise figure sighed, "That's the problem. Many in the Galactic Union are so enamored with the Humans' trade and economic capabilities that they forget or willingly ignore their history. But those who've been around long enough know better. The Humans, for all their advancements, have a dark side. And you, unfortunately, have just poked the bear." Swallowing hard, the leader nodded. "I will call them. I will apologize and hope they listen." The elder being nodded, "May the stars guide you, and let's hope the Humans are in a forgiving mood." The leader quickly made his way to the communication chamber, praying to every deity he knew, hoping to avert the storm he had unwittingly unleashed.

Without the demons the warp would have never been untransversale. So no age of strive. Being a psyker does not put you either in a ship to the throne nor one step away from becoming a portal to hell. STCs for everyone.

@@KarlSanathos Psykers have a raw deal. You either get protection from a Rogue Trader, or get taken in and trained as a Navigator if you are really lucky and around a shipyard. If you are in the Guard when you manifest you become a sanctioned psyker and used as a living weapon of war (to be fair this also means you are treated BETTER than the average guardsmen). The worst situation happens if you are found and in a hive city dedicated to war resources...those all get shipped to the throne unless they have a gift for something useful (which is rare, such as being able to send and receive images from long distances). More psykers get sanctioned than get sent to the throne amusingly enough. It is just the black ships come and take them and the planet never hears from them again unless they are a Guard awakened psyker. The Guard psykers are BADASSES. Take everything that makes the Guard, the Guard...now add the ability to kill things with your mind or shield your fellows. There are a handful of known psyker Guard members and the most terrifying ones are a woman from Cadia who can make shields around her that orbital bombardment cannot crack while also throwing out waves of kinatic force that can throw a Leman Russ tank away from her like it was made of cardboard, and a male Krieger who can throw spectral flames and lightning around (yes, this is where the Smite and Spectral Fire abilities from Darktide come from though the character in question does so at staggeringly longer distances). Guard psykers also become part of command staff pretty quickly.

Story 1. Readings of several 100 000 cruiser class ships, each with the energy signature of a neutron star... Those readings may be a bit low. Jump parameters consistent with intergalactic travel. Well... Providing the exact coordinates of our home world is not an issue when nobody can go there, even within 100 generations. Story 2. This mean that any specie declaring war against the humans is just asking for it's own extinction.

I remember reading a series of books about 20 years ago maybe more. There was a galactic war and we were still not in space. Then we were notified because we were about to be attacked. Well we beat off the attack and the galactic council or whatever weren’t too sure about inviting us too join them and breathed a sigh of relief when they realised we didn’t want to lol.

Love that ending to the first story. humans: "We are now showing our home system." captain: "Is that an entire galaxy?" Should have followed that up with the classification of Earth as a Death World level 12. From what I listened to by these stories a Death World level 7 is to be avoided at all costs for no member of this galactic community could survive on a Death World higher then a 4.

So I’m the first story do we like control the entire Milky Way or just a bit of it because in both cases we are going to be like gods since we are at the technology level to travel between galaxies.

first story.. very nice and apt slang , no ''council asked righteous warriors'' or such stuff brown nose fluffling or self glorifying poetic vaxing but more 'pragmatic' words relating to the duties of the militar aka , where do we , ouer foes and these new ones sit in strength compared to each other ? ^^
