RIP Robert Vaughn (November 22, 1932 - November 11, 2016), aged 83 And RIP David McCallum (September 19, 1933 - September 25, 2023), aged 90 You both will be remembered as legends.

My father met Robert many times. A very nice gentleman. I’m guessing David was just as nice. Two classy guys.

55+ years later.......the little kid inside me still remembered what U.N.C.L.E. stood for......I had the whole kit. Gun......jacket......holster......pen......and badge. The handgun came with extenders to make it into a rifle. SoooOOOoooo cooOOoooool.

One of my many favorite shows of the 60's. I had the toys, the ID cards, and the paperback books (comics too) of this excellent spy themed television series. Never missed an episode and was sad when it ended in '68. Rest in Peace, Mr. Vaugn, Mr. McCallum, and Mr.Carroll.

When I was 10 years old a group of us all knew what UNCLE stood for. It was imprinted in our hearts!!!! We were big fans of the show.

R.I.P David McCallum. He looked good for his age, I can tell he looked after himself.

Two points to make. 1 Robert was a superb expert on the Vietnam era very bright. 2 he hated man from uncle in the last series when people were wearing monkey costumes in one episode.his autobiography is a great read.

Robert was the last surviving member of the original Magnificent Seven, A classic western movie.

This interviewer was unprepared and clueless. She should have known that Vaughn was in Roger Corman’s “Teenage Caveman” before shooting her mouth off about “Little Shop of Horrors.” When she calls “Little Shop of Horror” an absolutely terrible film she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Granted that not everyone liked that movie and thought it was funny, but it was completely tongue in cheek and never intended as a “serious” film. And Nicholson’s performance was priceless.

Two things: I hope that You Tube downloads full episodes of Uncle, including this movie; and I will always wish that Robert Vaugh had done a guest shot on NCIS before he passed!!

David McCallum is a real nice guy. Vaughn too. Vaughn became an outspoken opponent when the Vietnam war was going on. It was very unpopular to do so at the time he was speaking out.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I've never seen it before. I grew up watching The Man From Uncle, watched the re-runs in syndication, bought the entire series on DVD (in the nifty attache case), and eventually found the DVDs for this and the other movies. I highly recommend both Robert Vaughn's autobiography and David McCallum's mystery novel.

At 1:58 - to 4:12, one of the most amazing single-takes, continuous camera follow shots I have ever seen. And I speak as a cinematographer. Everything fell into place composition-wise. No paid extras in the shot, just busy sidewalk people- I believe, yet they were never blocked to the camera lens. The actors did their lines into the wireless mics, without any flubs and appears to be live sound without overdubs, later. 2 minute walking shots are rarely pulled off successfully. MFU always had great cinematography in the first series. In fact, in the DVD set, they would shoot amazing shots with a handheld 35mm Arriflex which was pretty radical during the 60’s. David McCallum would drive to the MGM studios every day in his sports car, really enjoying the California lifestyle.

When this movie came out it was actually the first time I saw Uncle (and George Lazenby). Loved it immediately. Later saw some of the original series as well and loved it. Hope to see all episodes soon.

Although there were spy films before '62, it seems to have all started with Dr. No. Then there was Derek Flint, Matt Helm and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Loved these two actors, played off each other well. Loved the show.

They were so good together as usual. Robert was so happy and David was very happy to be there with him. I believe David really loved Robert. I loved it when Robert touched David's hand - very sweet. I loved them in any situation. The interview was good. I never get tired of watching the two of them together. They will always be in my heart.

Watching their humorous facial expressions during this interview, I realize now why UNCLE was so popular. These guys had charisma and both of them had a lovable quality, but especially David McCallum.

Great actors, clip and show, well ahead of it's time, the concept of U.N.C.L.E. being a part of the UN and similar to INTERPOL, in that it was an international organisation with many member countries and agreements/cooperation. U.N.C.L.E. HQ's (bases) and personnel like the U.N.C.L.E. Secretaries had a distinctive look that's never been equalled, such as the U.N.C.L.E. Secretaries having compact pistols (prop water pistols that looked like a Beretta Compact Pistol when the pistol grip was exposed/sticking out of the holster) in holsters worn at the back on the rear hip depending on whether being right or left handed, so when they draw their pistol they put both hands behind their back, one was to hold the holster steady, the other to draw the pistol, and vice versa for 'returning' the pistol. Then there's the triangular shaped coloured security badges, White (Pilot only) and Yellow for the highest security level, black text on yellow for 1st Season, white text with a black border (on Yellow) for Seasons 2 to 4, Red (with white text) for the lower security level (Season 1 only), Green with white text (Season 1 only) and with white text/black border for Seasons 2 to 4, and lastly for Season 4, for U.N.C.L.E. Secretaries only, black with white text. These badges were like swipe cards, they activated a lozenge shaped sensor in front of doors to open them, so without a badge you wouldn't be able to move around a HQ; not bad for 1964! Also the U.N.C.L.E. Secretary uniforms/costumes, Season 1 (B&W, apart from the films) they wore their own clothes with either white or black shoes. Seasons 2 & 3 (in colour) light blue top and medium blue skirt, black shoes, and Season 4 a yellow top with a black skirt (and black shoes), hence the special black triangular badges with white text; presumably to match the black skirts. Kind regards.

TV has so much better back then and this was a quality show with two great actors.

Okay, I'm going to be a total dick here! When Solo and Kuriyakin step up to the hotdog stand, Solo orders one dog with mustard and onions. But at 3:49 they show the vendor pick up a RED container, which would be ketchup, and spray it over the dog. I think Solo MIGHT have noticed that! As I said, I'm a dick! BTW, I grew up with "The Man From UNCLE" and still love it to this day. I even had the UNCLE gun and ID when I was a kid. (Wish I still had them. They might be worth something on the collectors market.)

The show was ahead of it's time, during the "Cold War" of the 1960s the fact that an American and a Russian could work together to try and keep the world safe, Vaughn was handsome but McCallum was the hot one..

Loved Robert in Hustle, I think he also appeared in Coronation Street cant be sure because I no longer watch soaps and David was brilliant as Steel in Sapphire and Steel, I'm not forgetting Ducky
