never seen someone take so many scoops to move so little material.the was i was taught is full buckets equals less swing time.

You definitely made it safe for someone to inspect and test the soil layers. Like how you took the time to remove the organic matter off the top first. Most operators are to lazy to do that!!!

I absolutely love this 870G, however the regen system sounds like a hair dryer when its burning soot.

+Pushysix® Are you sure its burning? Their smaller construction class excavators oxidize soot using a DOC/DPF. Deere doesn't have a spark plug component to their T4 system that I know of. Cat (larger than newer C7 series engines) and Volvo 'burn' using a flamethrower design to raise exhaust temps .

I KNOW I'M OLD AND TIRED, AT THE AGE OF 59! IF IT TOOK YOU 45 MINUTES TO DIG THAT HOLE WITH THAT MACHINE, MAYBE YOU SHOULD STICK TO MAKING VIDEOS !!!! BRING IT ON YOU NINTENDO, ARMCHAIR WIZARDS !!

Why does John Deere install Isuzu engines in their biggest excavators? JD makes their own turbo diesels up to 575 horse power…….

Do they use them in the big Deere machines? Probably has something to do with it basically being the same as the Hitachi then cause don't those all have Isuzu's? I know a lot of the smaller models are basically the same machine except for that engine....but out of the ones I've operated (350, 450 size deere/hitachi) I preferred the hitachi and they seemed more reliable.

ShredForth I'll bet that's it as it makes more sense......it's not really a JD machine after all...
