For Viper, moves three and four if memory serves are combo actions that have not done their positionals correctly as there is a spark when a combo action is done correctly and if it has a positional that is done correctly as well.

My speculation with Viper is that it will actually be built around stance-dancing, where you build up resources for "two sword" stance while in "double sword" stance and vice versa. Once you've bip-bopped between both things, you then get the super mode. For Pictomancer, I'm pretty sure it's going to be a matter of color layering. E.g. you want to make green (cyan + yellow), so if you do cyan + magenta + yellow, it clears your existing colors (hence buff removal) and replaces it with the new buff (just yellow.) We've seen that red=fire, yellow = stone, cyan = ice, and purple(/magenta) = lightning. The only secondary colors not present are green, the traditional color for wind in FFXIV, and blue, traditionally water. I expect, then, that Picto will need to build up their color palette, making it somewhere between Ninja and Monk. You can start form any of the three primary pigment colors (CMY), and then complete those colors to try to build up to the secondary pigment colors (RGB). Once you've built up all three secondary colors, you can then deploy a powerful combo spell that truly paints a picture, because it has all six colors and all six elements to draw on.

I think you're right :D. In terms of painting irl, you'd usually have Red/Yellow/Blue as primary and Orange/Green/Purple as secondary but going with CMY primaries like you suggested makes the color wheel line up perfectly with the ffxiv elemental wheel ✨

Earth may be removing and adding buffs because it's colour mixing. Hard to say what it was because everything can be out of order, but it would make sense that, if you had blue paint, for example, and used a yellow Earth spell, you'd loose the "Blue" buff and gain a "Green" buff as a result of blue and yellow mixing. I think it would be quite fun if the class had some system like this.

I am floored! I am not a visual person. I have difficulty seeing details. I'm embarrassed to say how long I've been playing this game and never noticed the flashes for GCDs, OGCDs, etc. How have I been watching FFXIV videos all these years and yours is the first video to mention this?!

This was really fun and interesting. Also learned about a few of those effects. DIdnt know gcd and ogcd were different or that dots had a specific effect. Good to know! I tried some of them out and realised that WHM and SCH has a unique green GCD effect for their heals but SGE and AST uses the normal GCD effect on their heals.

the debuff might not necessarely be a dot, generally dots have an animation when they deal damage and I don't spot it on the morbol

Casted attacks (and heals) also have their own effect that plays during the cast time and changes colour based on the element of the spell, which isn't even seen on any of the pictomancer abilities shown. The only spells that don't have any effect are instant cast GCDs. This implies either all of the pictomancer spells shown are instant cast GCDs, or they just didn't add the casting effect.

Idea on Viper; Move 7 IS the cast time for move 8, Think the DRG Jump into Mirage Dive. Considering they have the same blue aura around them it'd make sense if they're a linked move like that. As for Pictomancer; I can 100% see them using a VISUAL ARTS job to introduce 'party buff that doesn't buff the caster' for the simple fact visual artists are their own harshest critics. Because no matter how inspiring the work they reveal it is *never* what they originally saw in their head and that *fucks* with them. But then again they don't show the target enemy for the Landscape move so maybe it just effects enemies? Either way thank you for the video!! :D

Good video, I was not aware of the subtle animations for attacks like that. I'm curious if Viper will play like some kind of duality system, two swords to build up a gauge that has fast but weak attacks, twinblade for more damage that depletes it with slow yet powerful attacks. And every time you use twinblade, you build up another gauge for your big attacks.

Someone (was it Cole Evyx?) said that the pictomancer with the painting move/spell is changing from neutral to umbral, indicated by the color scheme. Maybe this is a stance change, not so much a buff. Maybe similar to Astro's old nocturnal and diurnal (?) stance for shielding and regen spells.

From what I can tell,Viper also is strongly based off of Zidane Tribal and his fighting style and moves from both FF9 and Dissidia.Zidane starts wields two daggers or short swords at the beginning of 9 but later gets access to a twinblade.With Dissdia this was expanded to the daggers being able to combine into his twinblade for his limit break and certain moves.I believe that the glowing stance Viper can enter references Zidane's "Trance" state from those games and some of the new movies will corelate to or reference Zidane's "Dyne" techniques. In other words, just as Gunbreaker is a bit of a lovesong to FF8's Seifer and Squaal with references smattered into the moves and names,Viper will be a tribute to FF9's Zidane.This is just a theory and I could be wrong but it was one of my first thoughts when I saw the trailer for the job.

I highly doubt that debuff move is a dot since there's also an animation that plays on the enemy every time a dot ticks, and there wasn't one in the video. Now, they could've cut it out, but I doubt it. I'm gonna say it's most likely a damage debuff like Death's Design.

For pictomancer background, the painting goes white to dark blue maybe indicating a change of « stance » like BLM when he change from ombral to astral stance. This is pure speculation but pictomancer seems more technical than it looks imo

I'm curious if or how many positionals Viper will have. Considering melee jobs nowadays get less and less positionals, we might see them cut completely in the future and I think Viper will be a good indicator on how the devs think about positionals right now.
