I was 13 & was raised on country music then this hippie came & stayed with us for a summer. 1 day he brought out a pink cassette & said come here & listen to this. That was my introduction to Led Zep & rock & roll....never looked back.

I’m 21 now and I’ve lived in Missouri all my life and never met a boy who liked rock-they’re all into rap and pop and country, shit like that. My parents raised me on rock, but the only rock fans my age I’ve ever met were two of my female cousins.

I’ll always fondly remember when my cousins came to stay with us for a while, and for that short period of time I had people other than my mom and dad to share my love of rock music with. They introduced me to “Psycho Killer” by The Talking Heads (which I thought was just _perfect),_ and we irritated hicks at the county fair by heckling them about how much country music sucks, lol.

Legendary singer in Robert Plant, legendary drummer in John "Bonzo" Bonham, legendary guitarist in Jimmy page, legendary bassist in John Paul Jones. When Bonzo drank himself to death at the age of 32, Led Zep immediately disbanded. There will never be another band quite like them.

Led Zeppelin are GOATs. They are my favorite classic rock band of all time. I don't think I've ever heard a song I didn't like from them. Omg I am SO jealous. I've seen more than my fair share of concerts but my heart breaks for all the GREAT GREAT acts that I will never get to see. I never saw pantera or Dio or Maiden. I couldn't get the funds to make either of the misfits reunions and Zeppelin and Skynard were before my time. I did get to see drowning pool, and more importantly George Carlin before they passed so I'll be alright.

@@wookiespet don't get angry with me, but, my favorite concert ever was Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon Tour...I took my older brother and about 24 of my friends went!! We all sat together...I remember that whole concert like it was yesterday because its the only concert I ever went to and stayed totally straight!! My sister is still a huge Dio fan today!! My kids and grandchildren were raised listening to Pink Floyd, Zepplin, The Who, Black Sabbath and so many others!! I'm so lucky to have grown up the time that I did and that I was a teenager when I was (in the 70s)!!

Zeppelin were one of the few bands where their live versions smoke their studio albums (which are great). The studio version is tight, and brutal, with no guitar solo. Live it blasts out of the gate, and pummels the senses, and features slithering, fierly solo by Page. Great stuff!

Absolutely - 2 different experiences - studio shows what great musicians they are and what a great producer Page is BUT LIVE - great musicians, but a great BAND- they knew each other so well and trusted each other that they could go off into the wildest jams and with a look or a gesture from Jimmy come right back to the main groove. Every single time I see their concert videos or listen to the audio, I'm amazed!!!

@@royyark2896 Roy I’m really sorry to hear that! Try and keep your head up as hard as it is. My Dad had a massive stroke 6 years ago and been so many ups and downs. The good thing is that his mind or memory isn’t impaired, but he also hasn’t been able to walk since because of that part of the brain affected. It’s very tough but I just spend every free minute with him to keep his spirits up! Keep up the fight Roy! You’re not alone. Keeping great music alive helps!! Be well Roy, you’re in my prayers! 🙏

Of course, Robert Plant's wailing in this song is iconic, and Jimmy Page is a known guitar god, but it's John Paul Jones on the bass and Bonham punishing those drums that really drives this song.

I am 48 years old now. Never got into them even though my parents did. Had a buddy of mine recently got me into them. They are amazing, I can't believe I missed out same way with the stones. John Bonham, the backbone and soul of Led Zeppelin, without him things would've been very different and we would not have gotten all this sick drum driven songs in the quality he had to give. Led Zeppelin is amazing live, but to really hear the music.. the details and the actual craftmanship... for that you need the studio versions of their songs. Thnx for the react man, always love seeing you go to "blank stare hypno mode" cause when that happens, you're listening to something really good... ;)

"Immigrant Song" was written during Led Zeppelin's tour of Iceland, Bath and Germany in the summer of 1970. The opening date of this tour took place in Reykjavík, Iceland, which inspired Plant to write the lyrics. He explained in an interview: "We weren't being pompous ... We did come from the land of the ice and snow. We were guests of the Icelandic Government on a cultural mission. We were invited to play a concert in Reykjavik and the day before we arrived all the civil servants went on strike and the gig was going to be cancelled. The university prepared a concert hall for us and it was phenomenal. The response from the kids was remarkable and we had a great time. 'Immigrant Song' was about that trip and it was the opening track on the album that was intended to be incredibly different." Six days after Led Zeppelin's appearance in Reykjavik, the band performed the song for the first time in concert during the Bath Festival.

I was nine years old in 72. Rushing to turn up the radio if and when this song was played. Five years later (1977) I saw them in concert while sitting on some guys shoulders because I'm small. No assigned seats back then. Most people became one all smashed together and no one fought. What an amazing awakening for a young teen. Glad I did it. Now I'm old and can talk about it to youtube people. :)

I was 1 when this came out...I was raised on Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Who, and Moody Blues. I have my mom's album collection, still have this on vinyl.

The drummer John Bonham taught his son Jason Bonham how to play drums when he was a young boy. Jason plays like his Dad, and I believe it was in 2007 that he toured with Led Zeppelin.

I need to watch more live videos of Zeppelin. I know most of their music but haven't seen much live stuff. So impressive. Super tight musically as a band. Those 60s and 70s rock bands were and always will remain the top of the pack. 👌you just rarely see that kind of musicianship anymore.

My sister is a huge Zeppelin head and played it so much, her daughter could name pretty much any Zeppelin song in about the first 5 seconds by the time she was in kindergarten...she raised her right!😂

I saw their last concert together in the US, at the Oakland Stadium on the grass seating, there was a thick cloud of smoke that day over the stadium the entire concert 😄😄

The term “legendary” regarding Led Zepplin is actually a man made phenomenon. After Bonham died from alcohol poisoning, they disbanded, saying that Led Zepplin will never be again without him. Had they gone on with a new drummer, mystique of their music would have been diluted. But now, it will never be duplicated or interrupted under a different group dynamic. This I believe was done from love of Bonham and a genius move for to secure their place in rock history. Each surviving member went on as individuals and extremely talented in their own rite. There will truly never be another like them. I do love when Bonham’s son plays his dads drums when tributes are paid to their significant contribution to rock music. So legendary... has so many meanings!

@Jack Bauer I definitely don't think immigrant song is the best song on the album. Its just a great start for it. And the one you mentioned is not one of my favorites. I'm just a sucker for any of their acoustic songs.

The audio of this recording is from the Los Angeles Forum show, 6/25/1972... the video is from February 1972 when Zeppelin did their only tour of Australia, the video is specifically from the Sydney Fair Grounds show..

Makes you wonder how they ever had a hit record playable on the radio, huh? They were definitely a concert band first and foremost. They protect their catalogue of music so closely that it is remarkable they allowed this song to be in the movie School of Rock.
