Ah, first person for Dinosaurs because it's realistic, yea I mean yea true it is realistic, but counterpoint; real animals have the ability to feel their bodies, so unless they are planning on creating the technology to turn The Isle into fucking sword art online where we put on a headset that transfers our consciousness to the body of the digital dinosaur we are playing to the point that we can feel and control the body as if it's our own, then no, because if I'm playing a T.Rex and someone bites the tip of my tail which is 12 meters away from my eyes, realistically I'd be able to know without seeing it and then react violently because it would hurt like hell.

The new camera makes no sense when dondi himself said that dinosaurs have to be in third person when humans are added. If they go thru with this camera design, then humans surely can't exist in this game, bc they would have a field day blowing a stegos head off with it not being able to see the human.

Just don't forget the roadmap design was done by a community member (Potentially Hacker) but is created off from what Dondi has said on stream recently

I'll add to the Megalania that it also happens to come in with the Mutation system and Dondi did say that some mutations will allow some dinosaurs to have different Visions aside from Night-vision. If we follow this pattern, like Komodo Dragons, I do believe Megalania will have thermal infrared vision instead of night-vision by default. This is why just in terms of development convenience Megalania makes the most sense to be the secret Dino after Maia. (Venom, Swimming, Climbing and now visions)

Luckily for the camera thing the reception on the discord and in the comments on KZfaq videos for it has been very negative, and as this seemed more of a concept than a planned feature I’m fairly hopeful that it won’t get added. But if Dondi does it anyway I’m out.

No matter what happens in the isle someone will hat, and hell that is in every game. All we can do as a community, and what the devs can do, is to have a open mind and see things from different angels. So that means not adding something because a majority of the player base wants that but what seems most reasonable and practical. Unfortunately we have a high ranking dev *cough cough wink wink* that takes and puts their ideas first and can't take criticism, and that is honestly disappointing.

I hope the secret species in megalania! It will add something new and be unique/add new systems.

I'd like to post what the devs put on their Devblog. Turns out they're gonna absolutely ignore their community and add the camera changes afterall. Are we really surprised?? Anyways, here's the first quote from the recent Devblog if you haven't seen it yet, by Ariel: "The plan is to bring the player's perspective closer to that of the dinosaur and provide a better sense of scale. I experimented with different setups to have all the functionality we need while keeping it easy to configure and smooth to use. In the end I got the general system working, but it still needs to be 'set up for each dinosaur and some of their unique mechanics as well'." Oh! Here's another sample I came across. I'm not a fan of the first person view at all! Now - if it was an option that you could quickly switch to in the middle of combat to better aim and lead your attacks then yeah, I'd be cool with that but, permanently being stuck in a first person camera is awful. Path of Titans does a similar thing where by scrolling on the scroll wheel your camera zooms in and out and you can zoom so far in that you're basically over the shoulder of your creature and it does help in certain situations but - like I said, having the ability to choose first or third person I think is better than locking you to either.

I get the whole point with why Hera should nest in the trees bc it makes sense. But the way I see it, it is like how sloths could just poop while up in the trees, but no! Instead they climb all the way down to do it.

Ok for the mystery pliable I think I should be 💯 megalania because they all ready have all other adaptations for Megalania like you said swimming, climbing, and venom but I will say this it probably won’t be the mystery pliable because it would probably be much harder making a different venom for it and it would also be the first one to give adolescence or juveniles the ability to climb and not giving it to the adults but i still like Megalania do😊

Dilo's posture doesn't fit its behavior or mechanics at all. It looks like it had a seizure after its father brought spoiled milk and was traumatized eversince. It's truly awkward to look at and distract me from admiring the Dilophosaurus. Fix its wrist position as if it were clapping, and lower its head a little bit. Maybe have it snarl or growl softly in its idle animation. With these adjustments, I believe it'd look far more approachable, tolerable, and less distracting from the animal's overall vibe and what it's concept art/game mechanics/design was going for.

heres a pitch, swamp magy, magy could survive by using the water to slow down fast terrestrial prey or you could just go for a swim to escape say an allo, and magy could easily just run onto land when something big like a dienosuchus comes

I got some more idea predictions for the isle devs: Increase growth times to 2 days at the minimum decrease AI spawns and player counts (I mean I, dondi went to the forest and didnt see many animals duh) Make more deathtraps on the map and call them intentional not bad map design Decrease health regeneration by 90% Make wounds have permanent effects, like breaking your leg once will make you a cripple for the entire playthrough (just manage your damage? Like whats the issue?) Make the game 60$ (Its the best quality in the genre guys, cmon)

'First person camera good because realism!!' My dudes...sometimes you need to sacrifice some realism for the sake of fun gameplay. Just because it's 'rEaLIStIc' doesn't mean it's good! I would absolutely HATE it if I logged into a game where I could be an awesome dinosaur, only to spend all of my gameplay just staring at the back of its' head. I wanna see it moving around in the environment in third person!! And like you said, the hell is the point of making skins if we can't even SEE what they look like? Horrid idea, -100/10.

I often fail to understand how people can feel the need to stand with one and only decision when we're literally free and allowed to take multiple. What i mean is that devs could very easily give us the OPTION of either choosing the default camera or front view camera, after all this ISN'T a game mechanic, this is a feature that doesn't affect other players, it has to do only with you and it dictates only YOUR play style, so why would they feel the need to sacrifice the needs and wishes of one party? The freedom you have on your own visual field doesn't interfere with other players' freedom, so why can't these two things coexist? I prefer the current camera as opposed to first person but i understand that just like i might prefer something, other people might need something else, and we're so fucking lucky to see that these two wishes DON'T EVEN GO AGAINST EACH OTHER, so why shouldn't devs bring them both to the game??

Dondi seems to change his mind on the game every year or so. It pisses me off to no end, the devs just can't seem stick to something and get it done. "Less stamina, camera change's, etc." whatever happened to "once we finish the base mechanics we will release dinosaurs sooner"? Its been FOUR YEARS since the hope trailer and we STILL don't have the spinosaurus, IN THE TRAILER!!!! Finish the animations and put the dinos in the game, you did it in legacy whats the hold up???? If this was any other game people would have given up by now but for some reason people hold on to these false promises even after they're broken again and again. Dondi has made it clear through his recent statments (I would rather have humans playable than dinosaurs) that he HATES the isle and would rather spend time developing Jurassic Park the game. Side note, I've heard so much talk about humans over the years, where the fuck are they???? Every game ever has humans in it, how hard is it to add some FPS gameplay where they run around the map looting? Thats like every survival game these days it should take like 2 months for humans to be mostly feature complete, I've seen single developers do more in less time. I hate being negative because I love this game, I've been onboard from the very start, but the attitudes of the devs are increasing concerning. It seems like more and more they're getting caught up insignificant bullshit, and are loosing the big picture. I've just got a sinking feeling. I'll try to be positive but damn.

Realistically dinosaurs would have the ability for a much wider field of view. Almost first person view, especially for herbivores is extremely unrealistic. Due to the limitations of playing a game on a screen, being able to zoom out to give you that larger field of view is much more realistic imo. I wouldn't mind it if they made it so herbivores can zoom out a little more than what a carnivore can. It would give players a little more insensitive to play a herb. But being locked in to that second person view is so stupid.

i've never played the isle in a while, gateway is complacating perfomence is bad, but the updates just have too much delay, Like I get how this is realism thing is hard, but I just hope they fix this soon.

New orni video fuck yeah

One of my biggest gripes in this game is the obvious favouritism to dilos. Their diet has ai for every slot. Easy to maintain. Their bite has not been nerfed by the cool-downs that other carnivores received. Raptors are lighter. Smaller have bite cool down. Must hunt other Dino’s to maintain perfect diet. Pounce is still buggy as fuck. Imho pounce shouldn’t hit pack members. Pounce needs to be from rear and flanks. A coordinated attack should be the biggest fear from raptors. I think their bleed mechanic needs to be stronger too. due to their malicious claw on their foot. right now they’re laughable hitting each other. Knocking each other off. Just annoyingly large troodon too me. You have to be very skilled and in voice chat to really shine with raptors. Any random dilo pack is a menace.

god i just love how awful this community is easily of of the top 10 reasons that make the game worse, love that if you talk bad about the game it means you must hate it and dont want to give your feedback to see it improve

I don't remember Dilo ever being the same speed as Carno, it's 47kmph and irrc it's been that way since relase, it is pretty damn fast but not Carno fast.

I think the 20 fps is more of a problem than the chuffing

For example, a realism sever if you want to feel like a dinosaur sure have the option for people who like it. And for pvp severs admins have the option to keep the original camera setting for pvp players. And I love the spino design too and Rex’s

1:54 aged too well, but i dont think you were scared enough. Its completely taken over the meta of the game. You know its bad when an obligate herbivore has a better pvp KD ratio than any of the carnivores. People play this thing like its Indominous Rex in herds of 15, where they also tend to kill their own babies for fun.

from what ive heard the new camera idea thing was because it was "too hard" to ambush... i ambushed 2 gallis, 2 tenos, 3 stegos, a dryo and a pachy with ONE bush to hide in as a carno once so no ambushing was never "too hard" people just suck at ambushing and wont this new camera make it waaaaay harder to ambush? im sorry but if im crouching in a bush all im going to see are leaves and my dinosaurs bald ass head... i wont even be able to tell if the rest of my body is hidden... its a bad idea and shouldnt happen i swear the only problem with the isle is the horrendous decision making... or as i like to call it "dondi's deranged decisions"

id say mystery dino is likely a mid tier, they brought in the big apexes and small and mid tiers are fine. so prob a mid tier, and they got an abelisaurid and also a mean ceratosaurus. gotta be a mid sized tyrannosaur or herbivore, but with so many mid sized herbis i doubt it

The new camera stuff genuinely degusts me. I did not buy a first person dinosaur game. I bought the game as it was because I like to see the creature I'm playing as. And if anything first person breaks immersion more. Especially for herbivores who would naturally have a wide FOV. You can't re-create that and have it be playable. So why bother with creating the first step?

As an optimist, who honestly gives this game a LOT more credit than it's usually due, and humor changes that seem bad because honestly, I don't think all of the poorly received changes are bad. The new night vision, for instance, when it was first implemented with the outline system. I liked it, I thought it looked cool, and if it hadn't caused health problems for some players, I would have loved if they'd keep that, but knowing that it DID cause health problems, I'm happy that they didn't. Honestly I like the camera lock when eating/drinking. It creates an incentive to actually pay attention, stop and look around instead of just being able to immediately know if something is behind you. It partially recreates that moment of danger that classic legacy eating/drinking had because of the animation-lock that you'd be stuck in. Likewise, I am probably one of the few people in the severe minority of not minding the new stamina. I don't think it's some amazing thing that improved the game, but I like it in concept, and it hasn't affected how I play the game very much, because I've never been the kind of player who sprints to get around. And for the people who can't stand it, they have been slowly reworking it and making it less oppressive after implementing it. Which is why this new camera thing isn't scaring me yet. I don't think this early look is very good, but a lot of people seem to be acting like it's the end of the world and I just don't see it. If it ever does make it into the game, and people hate it, it'll be changed and dialed back and adjusted, because that's what they did with night vision, and it's what they're doing with stamina. The same thing will happen with the camera if that makes it into the game. But unlike those other mechanics I mentioned, I don't think the camera change adds anything other than "Dondi wanted it." and I certainly don't think it's a necessary or good change. That said, for my money, I feel like the best use of that new camera system would be, like, a camera "mode". Replacing zoom with camera modes. I didn't even realize until a few weeks ago that Evrima had a mechanic where you can recenter your camera to your left or right slightly, so maybe make it like that. The new camera? Immersion-mode. The other camera? Classic Mode. And then a camera that hugs the left and right.

i don't think that it's realistic anyways, like some animals have eyes on the sides of their heads, not on the front, a stego has it's eyes on the sides and he should be albe to see things that are on his side, and not that it can only see what's infront of it

Atp, Dondi's been making the game a pain to play. Some people are starting to speculate that he is intentionally doing this to kill the game, unable to delete it due to promises and unable to ruin it for he might be caught. Either way, this game is going downhill at a rate where it can never climb back up.

Realism shouldn’t take priority over general enjoyment. Who cares if first person is realistic it’s a pain in the ass so why have it? At the end of the day it’s a game and how fun it is and allat should take priority

Everytime i complain about the players mentality or mechanics from the game i get bashed by some "smartasses" telling me stuff like "skill issues" or "L" every single time i complain about something, im a casual player and these meta players thinking this is a competitive PVP fighting game, damn these people need to calm down and stop being so toxic
