I worked on a military installation for thirty some years and we did gas, water and sewer. When I first started we had two operators, one had the feel and never tore up anything. We always said he could not only feel everything below the ground when digging he could also tell you what color it was. Then again the other operator couldn't feel shit and he always put everything on top of the ditch so we could see what he tore up.

@TrevorDennis100

Eddie, it would have been a close thing all right. Chris was pretty damn pleased with himself for threading that big pipe under the cable, so if a new cable went in at the same depth, I guess it would have scratched the top of the culvert. Even if they'd ripped a wee crack it wouldn't have mattered being at the top of the pipe. What I was wondering about was power cable. If you watch Andrew Camarata's channel, he often mentions power going right down the center of the long drives he puts in for new house builds in NY state. I was also looking for the warning tape you see them put near the top of trenches when back filling over power and propane pipes at least. I have no idea what the regs are for NC, or how they might have changed since that drive and property was built, but I'm thinking it must be relevant. It makes it more interesting as well.

@@TrevorDennis100 If they have 4 dead phone lines, 1 live, and they put a new one in each time it got cut; I'm guessing for burying cable they've got a buddy who can do it cheaper.

I love Andrew's videos, and he is about to overtake Chris with his number of subscribers. Chris and Andrew have different skill sets, but what gives Chris the edge IMO, is that I'd much rather have him for a buddy than Andrew. Chris cracks jokes, and does great banter with Tim and Justin, whereas I don't think I have ever seen Andrew crack a smile, and I have seen all his videos, and a lot of them twice. He does have some good friends to be fair, as evidenced by the help he got building his container building. I'm just glad that they both keep uploading great content, because I am going to keep right on watching it all.

Love the way you rock in those pipe ends. The Downstream rock looked GREAT on this one. Not sure why you mentioned you think there won’t be any water in the pond anymore after it silts one, since there’s clearly been water in there for a while and it didn’t silt in yet. But that old concrete headwall definitely caused an issue. “Unforeseen circumstance” Guess the homeowner didn’t want to pay for the time to remove it to get the culvert set correctly? Anyway, looks great

Wish you were close to me. Had a similar situation on my driveway. Fixed last week. My 35 yr. old metal pipe collapsed. Nightmare job. Instead of power line, we have our water line in the middle of bridge. New 30 ft. 42" plastic pipe. 2 loads new rip rap, 1 load #4 rock, 5 loads new hard clay, 2 loads crush run. Lucky found some real pros to do it, but expensive.

shouldn't that have been a fair bit deeper???? there seemed to be a good bit of standing water still after you added the 48 inch line for it to drain through... You would think that with a pond that small and a line that large it would have cleared out a little quicker. Water is still going to settle there especially when that culvert starts building up a little sedement as all culverts eventually do.
